7-Port USB 3.0 Hub+5V/3A Power Adapter

Great little device. I opted for a powered hub because everything seems to be getting power hungry these days! Nace, weighty and robust item. No temptation to be flipped about by stiff leads etc. Nice individual switches if you have lights or fans connected (for example). Much better than low powered, lighter item I replaced. Glad I upgraded to something that doesn't want to dance about when I plug or unplug and I know will deliver for year to come. Heartily recommend.

One of my MIDI keyboards is powered solely by USB which means that I have to plug it in at the start and unplug it at the end of a studio session. The USB socket is a micro socket and constant plugging in and unplugging any socket and in particular, a small socket like this is less than ideal for longevity. Although there are many USB inline switches available, the majority of these do NOT carry data as well, making them useless for anything other than switchable charging leads. This 4 port USB hub has switchable ports making it ideal for my use case but also giving the benefit of three additional LOW current USB ports for other equipment. I have been sceptical of USB hubs in the past and many reviews of similar devices to this describe faulty connections, overheating, sticky switches and early failure so I have kept away from them but felt this one was worth a punt because I only needed one port with a switch. However, in testing, I also connected a MIDI sequencer to the hub at the same time as the MIDI keyboard and this too worked perfectly. The hub remained completely cool over an extended testing period in the studio and the switches performed solidly and reliably so I am very impressed so far. I should say that this is only day two of ownership so I will report back if the hub becomes unreliable in any way! Pros:- - lightweight - compact - attractively finished - LED 'ON' lights - adequate cable length - doesn't get hot Cons:- - sockets quite a tight fit (this could also be described as a 'pro' but constant plugging in and unplugging could put a strain on the PCB) - not suitable for charging battery packs - not suitable for connecting high current draw devices The supplier does clearly explain what should and shouldn't be connected to this hub. So far, I recommend this device for its intended purpose of attaching low current draw USB devices

I recently bought a mini desktop PC which didn't have enough USB ports for my needs, hence I bought this hub. I've plugged in all I need and still have two vacant ports. Each port has its own light switch which you have to turn on before the port will work. I generally like to have all my USB ports open all the time, so that I can swap between them looking for files, so the lights are unnecessary for me. However, not wanting all those lights shining and wasting electricity, they do force me switch off at the mains when I close down the computer at night - something I didn't do before. Otherwise, this hub works just fine.

Being powered, it saves the PC from being overloaded. Handy to have it secured with double sided tape to my desk top

I bought this product specifically to backup data from smaller spare external drives onto one big external storage drive. Whenever I plug any device into this hub, the device would randomly disconnect and reconnect again, making it impossible to do any operations with the storage drives. It even caused a disk error on one of my storage drives which I had to check and fix myself.
