Chloe [DVD]

'Chloe' is a 2009 erotic thriller film directed by Atom Egoyan, a remake of the 2003 French film 'Nathalie'. It stars Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson, and Amanda Seyfried in the title role. This film lives up to its reputation as an erotic thriller. Amanda Seyfried is the dangerous femme fatale who causes chaos when she enters into the very private lives of the Stewart family after the wife invites her in to test her husband's fidelity. Seyfried plays the role of Chloe with a sultry understatement that gives her character an element of mystery and menace. Many of the scenes were shot at night and the haunting music of Mychael Danna amplifies Chloe's seductive character and adds to the film's overall tension. A great movie to watch on a cold, wintry evening, along with a glass of red wine to get you in the mood.

A great film and a gripping storyline

I think some of the reviews are very wrong. To give this film 2 stars is ridiculous. Firstly, the film has three top actors/actresses: julianne Moore, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried. The film was very clever and works very well. I would hate to ruin the film for any potential buyers so will ignore too much detail regards the stroyline. It basically involves Chloe (Amanda Seyfried) getting involved in a family's life as the mother of the family (Julianne Moore) suspects her husband is cheating on her. I really enjoyed the film and the storyline was great. You also get to see Julianne Moore and Amanda Seyfried undressed which is not a bad thing! I also disagree with reviews that say thej acting is bad... the acting was fantastic, particularly from Julianne Moore and Seyfried!!!! Firstly, I will admit that I was interested in this only because the lovely Amanda Seyfried shows her naked body and a beautiful behind, and so does the sexy Julianne Moore, but this film was far more than just female flesh to try and get interest. It is almost poetic, (sounds yucky, yes, but it's true, maybe haunting is a better word to describe it), and the performances from all members of the cast are so subtle and real, it's quite amazing. I will not give anything away about it, except to say that there are some lovely little touches here and there and they are so subtle that they are almost unnoticeable, which is always a good thing. This film has one of those rare things I believe, something that gives it a quality that makes you want to have repeated viewings. I have a copy and have seen it many times now. In fact, I recently watched it twice in one week. One reviewer has said that they can't believe all the average reviews, and another has said that the original film on which it's based is better. I have no time for euro cinema at all, music is their strength, but this film is rare from the Americans, since they don't do subtle eroticism too well, but in this case, it is done well and Chloe is genuinely sexy. I might even get the blu ray copy when I upgrade.

It’s really tacky soft porn with no storyline. Both lead actors are better than this nonsense.

This movie should have been so much more. Two excellent leads let down by the story. It was a film of a husbands entrapment at the instigation of his wife which has been filmed many times previously. Add a lttle spice in so much that the wife feels an attraction towards the female seducer of her husband, consummates physically and then regrets it. After an emotional discussions with her husband they attempt a reconciliation. Young girl cannot accept the situation and commits suicide in a dramatic fashion. This is a cliche. Should have been a release to DVD film, not a general release movie. Barely viewable unless, like me, you are a fan of Julienne Moore.

This movie is surprisingly good even if its not the type of thing you would usually watch, I was drawn to the fact Amanda Seyfried is in it, she is an amazingly beautiful and talented actress and goes all the way in this movie by showing us her naked body!! The story is very well constructed and plays out very well with a few twists and turns that lead you down the wrong path the whole time until the light is found at the end, the performances from Seyfried and Julianne Moore make it worth the watch alone and they have a naked erotic scene together too!! This is worth a watch no doubt and is something you will certainly go back to, the bluray is good quality and there are some decent features too.
