Review: It’s mighty - I have to admit that I’m surprised it’s still going, my power tools tend to take a beating and I’ve already gone through so many cutting discs. I destroy the proper heavy duty tools like grinders and drills and decided to get a proper Dremel because a friend who’s much more careful with their tools said they ended up with one because all the other rotary tools they used failed. Well, sometimes I’ve been lazy and instead of fetching my angle grinder when I had the Dremel at hand knowing that it’s really a job for the angle grinder, I used the Dremel to cut through 3cm thick solid steel (yes cm not mm), sure it took some time and a few discs and it got very warm but it did it! Then I decided to grab the grinder because I had to make another cut in the same metal bar and that went through its brand new disc in the one go and became very hot, it wasn’t even an easy job for the angle grinder I do a lot of different kind of work like welding/metalworking, woodworking, custom fitting kitchens, bathrooms, all the tiling, car interiors, etc. so I’ve made full use of all of the included attachments which are great I liked that this one came in a tidy organised box and with a decent selection of attachments, I did order more official Dremel cutting discs and their little wire brushes which I haven’t tried out yet I think one bad point is the combined power switch and speed switch moves very easily and doesn’t lock in the off position, so for example if you don’t realise it’s actually turned on and plug it in or accidentally knock it and it slides into an on position it could be dangerous I wasn’t sure if this would get much use, if it’d be a waste of money and whether it would be better to get a cheaper rotary tool for the specific job I wanted this for at first. Well I don’t regret it! If I need to get a new one in the future, I’ll definitely get a proper Dremel again but I’ll get the best one available because it’s done so much already, pretty much every job I do I say I’m going to grab the Dremel and I’m sure no other rotary tools could survive what I’ve already put this through I was concerned it would be sitting unused in a corner of my storage room forever after the one job but it’s in use nearly every day

**Q: Can I use bits smaller than 2mm? Ideally down to 0.5mm?**
A: The Dremel chucks supplied will only go down to 0.8mm. They are also very tedious to change with each new bit size. However is you buy the Dremel 4486 Quick Change Multi-Chuck (about £10) you can use bits from 3.4mm down to 0.4mm. Personally I only use this 4486 chuck as it is so convenient.

**Q: Hello, could this be used for craft work on engraving glass jars and glasses please? Thank you.**
A: Yes this is what I bought it for...I use it to engrave my company name on steel platters and glass jugs and plates, crockery etc as I am a caterer and dont want things being stolen.The only thing is for me its a bit heavy. You need to restrain the items being engraved so they dont move about for a neat finish but with a bit of practice with different tool bits I bet you would get some lovely results.Hope this helps

**Q: Will this tool be suitable for drilling through small and medium sized pebbles?**
A: Yes, this is such a powerful multi tool that it could be easily used to drill through small and medium sized pebbles!! I can imagine that a small masonry drill bit would be perfect for this and if you needed to drill slightly larger holes you could drill pilot holes, then enlarge them with a burr bit or larger bit or add a dremel multi chuck for even more flexibility in attachment pieces!! I have drilled small rocks and also polished medium sized pebbles using mine.

This is a truly great Dremel, and I suspect it will last me my lifetime, lest I buy a cordless model. I’d considered buying one of the cheaper versions from another brand many, many times.. alas, I know they will fail on me in short order, be of sub-par quality, and the bits/tool heads are usually poor. This kit is worth every penny, and will probably never fail for as long as you’ll ever need it. Buy the right tool, once. Take care of it, it will take care of you. The kit comes with a variety of tool heads, perfect for whatever your needs.. cutting, sanding, polishing, grinding etc. Whilst the replacement tool-heads are a little more expensive than the unbranded counter-parts, they’re of far superior quality, and they’re honestly not that much more. Need I say more? It’s a great product.
