Found a way to get curls in hair that won't curl!
So when I first purchased these, I thought they were rubbish and I wished I hadn't already thrown the box away so I could send them back. My hair just does not hold curls and after researching the best tongs for big curls, these were coming up on top in a lot of places so I had to try them considering the price.First time I tried, my curls lasted about 3 minutes before my hair was dead straight again. Through trial and error, I've found a routine using these tongs to actually hold curls in my hair.Step one: Buy some curl holding clips (they're like £4 for 20 clips).Step two: Wash and towel dry hair, use your choice of heat protect spray and elixir oil.Step three: Roughly blow dry hair until dry.Step four: Separate hair into sections and begin to curl. Don't use the clamp, just wrap the hair around the barrel with the top of the barrel pointing downwards.Step five: Hold for about 10 seconds, then pull tong upwards letting the curl drop into your hand.Step six: Using the curl pins, pin the rolled up curl and move on.Step seven: Let the hair cool for 20 mins or so and then release all curls. Hairspray and brush through to finish.I gave these 5/5 for value for money, they are good for the price.

Babyliss Giant Hair Tong 2289U
I'm surprised that these tongs have such a mediocre rating. I have fine but plentiful layered just longer than shoulder length hair which prior to using these tongs was impossible to style out of a salon. Other tongs weren't hot enough to eliminate frizz and the curl dropped out with the weight of my hair, leaving it shiny but flat as a pancake.I still wear the exactly the same hairstyle but with these tongs my hair has been transformed. It is so easy and fast to style with these tongs. The barrel is so large I can curl large sections of hair at one time and the curl is fantastic and long lasting. Even when my hair is damp these tongs can create curl and shine. So many people comment on how good my hair looks which they rarely did before - I'm absolutely delighted with these tongs, and cannot do without them. So much so, that I have just ordered a second pair in case the first ones come to the end of their natural life and I'm left without them. They wouldn't work on short hair because of the size of the barrel but there are plenty of alternative tongs on the market to cater for shorter hair. I acknowledge that the on/off switch being on the handle is bad design but like another reviewer, I just sellotaped the controls to prevent switching them off inadvertently. Other than the switch placement I cannot fault them, and I'm happy to put up with this fault in exchange for the fantastic results I achieve with them. For layered shoulder length hair (even fine hair) these are fantastic.

User friendly
I bought these curling tongs because I love the big curls look that's in at the moment, they are easy to use and get nice and hot, they gave me lovely big bouncy curls, which was good because I can't curl my hair with straighteners like the hiardressers do.I had to leave them in my hair a lot longer than it says to, as I have very thick hair, so I was careful not to burn my hair, however, the curls had dropped out after a couple of hours and it just looked wavy, but then again you only get lasting curls with straighteners so I was prepared for that, and I didn't use any hairspray etc so they may last longer next time. So on the whole quite happy, just wish the curls lasted longer. Glad I bought them though, they are very user friendly and you don't burn the ends of your fingers because the stay cool piece on the end is a decent size.

Fine, not exceptional
I ordered this curling iron for a trip to the UK and had it delivered to my friend who lives in London so I wouldn't have to pack my curling iron and bring it over. The barrel is quite large and thus I found it had more of a straightening/smoothing effect on my very thick hair as opposed to actually giving me curl. It wasn't bad, but the curls weren't tight enough to hold more than a few minutes. I would recommend this if you're just looking to get rid of frizz and maybe have a bit of wave, but if you want to have loose curls go with something smaller, knowing that the curls will loosen over the course of the day.

I own a few curling tongs but this one is so far my favourite. I creates really nice natural looking waves which are great on long hair. I have since had my hair cut to medium length and thought I wouldn't be able to use it anymore, but i was wrong. Creates a lovely volume as well and leaves my hair looking really shiny. Its heats up pretty quickly as well which is great because I am not the most patient person when it comes to getting ready. Its easy to use and looks really nice as well. Really happy with this purchase and it has lasted me for a very long time now without showing any signs of needing to be replaced. Heat setting can be regulated as well. My hair is quite thick and heavy so I personally always go for highest setting which always works for me,

Rubbish!
Very disappointed with these tongs. I have very fine, straight hair and usually use a pair of very cheap gas powered tongs with great long lasting effect. I bought these to travel with as obviously you cannot pop gas canisters into your luggage for flights. They are totally useless! They heat up to something close to molten lava and burn you frequently and with ease yet fail to put a curl in your hair - go figure? I'd only go so far as to say it puts a slight wave in your hair which immediately falls out. The on/off button is badly placed and I am forever accidentally turning it off and not realising whilst I'm using the tongs. To make a fair judgement, I thought Id use these tongs for at least a month before writing a review to see if it was more to do with me and my technique but sufficient time has passed and through experience I can now honestly say, do not spend your money on these, they are rubbish!
