hi , i am looking at this but what is the ext size of the threaded part . will i get a 15mm copper pipe over the top of the thread to act as a holder

hi I am not sure about the size of the 15mm pipe related to the brass nipple the thread is to screw into the standard british threaded lamp holder who have two sizes the  back plate that I purchased was to fit the smaller size. If you find a threaded lamp holder small  size the dia of the threaded opening will be the size of the thread on the brass back plate a standard British electrical thread used for many years hope this can help  Brian

Will this be suitable to securely hold a brass lamp holder to take an upward facing bulb to go on a standard lamp.

Hallo Alister, I used this fitting coupled with a lamp holder to illuminate a display cabinet. It used to be lit by a 9 inch 30 watt filament strip light which only lasted a month or so. I now have a 3 watt long life bulb slightly tinted with glass paint.

The 10mm unit has an internal diameter of 7mm and the 12mm unit has an internal diameter of 9mm. These units are only intended to hold electrical lamp holders and not recommended for any other industrial use.  Matthew. Rouzede. France.

Apologies for the delay in answering your question !  As far as I am aware there are two sizes of these back plates.
There is a back plate with a 10 mm thread and another with a 12 mm thread. they both have a base plate with a diameter of 25 mm the diameter of the three fixing holes is 20 mm and the hole size for the fixing screws is 4 mm.
The cable hole size in the 10 mm back plate is 7 mm. The cable hole size in the 12 mm back plate is 9 mm.
