Nicely Built, not so much for big guys...
I ordered this particular foot rest because of the brand name, large platform, and the ability to make adjustments. When it arrived, I was very pleased with the product. The platform is plastic with a nice rubber over that has large dimples, and a deep grid on the bottom side for strength (or so I thought). The base is made out of metal and has two height levels. I have set the front for the lowest height and the back to high. This gives me a slightly more vertical angle on the platform, which I like. And, the base have some grip strips on the both to reduce slipping on the carpet. Also, the platform tilts freely (with slightly adjustable friction), giving a nice ability to flex your ankles periodically during the day. Now, the "issue". All was good on the first day. On the second day, I was preparing to leave my desk and used my feet to push away so I could get up. My feet, of course, where on the foot rest. I heard a loud crack. Upon investigation, I found that the grid on the bottom of the platform had cracked in several places along a single rib. I was disappointed. I've not fixed it, or asked for a refund, I am still using the footrest, I just make sure my feet are at the outside edge of the footrest when I push out. This may be a general design flaw, related to my size 14 feet, the bad wheels on my chair, or the fact that I'm overweight. It may even be a little of each.I still think it's a great foot rest and recommend it.UPDATE: 2013-05-03I have thrown this foot stand away. It has finally broken to the point I can't use it at all. But, I did get the better part of three years out of it. I think my feet were just to heavy for it.

Life saver
This foot rest though looks simple is a great invention. ' I am suffering from leg/back pain due to a herniated disc, and sitting is especially painful. But unfortunately i need to sit in front of the computer and sometimes at the meetings. ' I am not that short, even tall for a woman, but most of the time if i try to place my back firmly in the chair, my feet may not be placed firmly on the floor. This foot rest makes it posible. ' I can sit upright pressing my back to the back of the chair and also place my feet firmly on this rest. The good thing is you can easily change the height of the rest by changing the angle of it.' Only I wish it had some kind of wheels, that would help to move it inside a room to different places(kind of wheels which are locked when you press on them. Who knows may be the manufacturer will improve the design. One more thing; I ' had unintentionally ordered two of these foot rests. So when they first arrived ' I contacted the seller to return it. They immedately send me the label for free shipping. But i liked it so much after using it for a few days, i decided to take the extra one home, to use there.

Very Lightweight
It is fine for my needs, but would have liked it a little heavier as my feet move it frequently.

LOVE THIS~
Had forgotten about the NECESSITY of foot rests when at desk work. They were provided by my company when I was doing that sort of work, not home office as now. Years in between, forgot the item. Have lately been elevating my legs on pillows, because I might work 12-15 hrs. at a time. Got this, sat me up straight right now. Prior I would slouch eventually and start hanging off my ligaments, subsequent back pain. Is just right for me. Ordered one for my son for his office. It rocks if one wants that kind of movement at times when working. Looks substantial enough to me, I doubt I would break it. Glad for this item.

Good foot rest
Works well. I've purchased two, one for me and one for my wife. I'm 5' 10" and she's 5' 4" and the footrest works well for both of us. I like being able to flex my feet.

Disappointed
I don't think I'd be as frustrated if I hadn't paid $50+ for a peace of metal and plastic. My main compliant is that even though they claim this is adjustable, you can only adjust and then re-lock the height. As far as I can tell, you cannot lock down the tilt angle. I am at a corner desk and for my set up I my feet are a tad bit high on the the foot rest and so I have to flex my feet and even my core to not push the top down. Therefore, I find myself often not even using this $50 piece of plastic. With that being said. I can see how this would probably work for some people, especially if they have a really deep desk with tons of leg space. I do love the wide, non-skid surface.**Update: December 4, 2012**The foot rest has now cracked right down the middle. Its still usable, but the 4 inch crack makes it feel even more unstable.

I like the pivot (front to back) function - it moves ...
Works well to keep my legs from going numb. I like the pivot (front to back) function - it moves well enough to easily adjust the angle for comfortable foot placement, but has enough resistance that it doesn't flop back and forth. The angle change happens as an intentional action on my part.
