Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X - Joystick and Throttle for PC/PS3

Fantastic Product and not only because of it's cheap price. I play Elite:Dangerous mostly and have been doing successfully for over a year with a xbox 360 gamepad. I thought that I wouldn't gain much by getting a joystick for this. I had toyed with the idea but as I was happy and most joysticks are a bit pricey I put it off. Thanks to a link from a fellow gamer I received a link for this item when it was just £20. I am more than satisfied with the purchase. For - The stick, although the PS3 edition, worked perfectly with my PC. I run windows 10 and I literaly plugged the stick in and it worked. Elite:Dangerous even had some basic flight controls pre programmed in but I had to edit a few in the game which can be expected. The build quality of the stick feels solid enough. It has a small alan key in the base that is used if you want to have the 2 sections either attached or seperated, you can fasten it with the inbuilt screws and it won't budge. If you prefer to have the stick and handle seperate that is also an option. I have read somewhere that the cable that connects the 2 isn't long enough but I didn't find that the case. It actually has more cable underneath that just needs pulling out if you want it to go further. The responce time on the stick is instant with no visible lag at all, my gameplay skill has increased a lot with the addition of the stick. I find myself able to make tighter turns and am able to follow enemies in my sight easier. I have no issue staying directly behind other ships now and am out manouvering ships that are supposed to be more agile than mine! There are a large number of buttons on this stick that are fully programable within the game I play so I very rarely have to use the keyboard for anything. Against - The only thing that would improve this stick is an aditional HUD but other than that for the price this is probably the best thing to invest in if you are unsure and want to test using a stick before splashing out larger amounts of money for some of the other sticks!

The joystick brings me great joy haha (so funny, ain't I), however, there is a few things I don't like: 1. The throttle bit is just not heavy enough and it doesn't stick enough. Every time I push it forward, the back bit lifts up. If you push it normally it's OK but if you push it with a little force, it lifts up. It's kind of inevitable as you're most likely going to whack it to the max when you're having a mad chase in-game as you need to act quickly. Solution to this could be just using tape or some sort of glue to secure the back bit to the table. EDIT: The throttle got a bit easier to slide over time, so it's not so much of a problem anymore. 2. There could be a few more buttons on it, especially if you intend to play Elite Dangerous like I am. The ships in the game have too many functions for this joystick. If you don't mind fitting the keyboard in between the joy and the throttle, you gonna be alright. It's only a real issue if you're playing with VR headset as you'll have trouble finding the keys on the keyboard with the headset on. 3. The wire between the joy and the throttle could be a bit longer. Other than this, it does what it says, has a great feel to it too. DON'T FORGET TO PUSH THE SWITCH TO PC ON THE BACK OF THE JOY IF YOU'RE PLAN ON USING IT WITH A PC BEFORE YOU CONNECT IT TO YOUR USB PORT. I wasted at least 45 minutes before I figured out why the controls are not working as intended. Definitely great buy for the money, but if you're looking to play ED with the joystick only, I advise you to find one with more buttons. EDIT: After about 50 hours of use the joy started to have contact problems. If I pulled the wire a bit it disconnected from the computer. Roughly 4 months have passed since I purchased the joy, so I thought they might tell me to sod off if I contact them that I'm having problems, but they actually sent me a new one and issued me a pre-paid return label for the old one. This and the fact that some one of the initial problems I had (number 1) is fixed, I'm giving it a 5 star.

This is a great HOTAS (Hands On Throttle and Stick) controller for the price. It's made of sturdy plastic and feels good in the hand. The joystick is smooth and responsive, and the throttle is well-weighted. The buttons are easy to reach and feel good to press. I've been using this controller to play a variety of games, including Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, and X-Plane 11. It's worked great for all of them. The joystick is precise enough for dogfighting and the throttle is perfect for controlling speed. The only complaint I have is that the throttle is a little stiff. It takes a little bit of effort to move it from one position to another. However, this is a minor complaint and doesn't affect the overall usability of the controller. Overall, I would highly recommend this controller to anyone looking for a budget-friendly HOTAS option. It's a great value for the price and works well for a variety of games. Like a lot of people who have left reviews i bought this controller to play Elite Dangerous. I have to say that i am genuinely impressed with this controller considering it's sub £50 price. It is plug and play so you can plug it in and off you go and the construction is surprisingly sturdy (although plastic). Elite Dangerous has it's own setting for this controller, however, i found this difficult to use. Fortunately in game everything is easily re-configurable so i quickly had a button configuration that suited me. As i said in the title getting used to playing with this controller changes game play in many ways, but, this is a wholly positive experience for me. You probably find that there are various little tweaks you will need to make to get the controller to suit you. One example i can give is I had to desensitize the Twist Yaw control as, simply due the the angle and way i hold the controller, i was always yawing slightly to the right. The buttons themselves are fully programmable for games (and other programs) outside of the game. To give and example I use Teamspeak for Elite Dangerous and other Games to communicate with others who play the game. One of the buttons on the throttle is set as my 'push to talk' button which allows easy communication. Over all i am extremely impressed. I have used other controllers and yes there are 'better' controllers with more configurable buttons available. That said this controller is sub £ 50 and the others cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of pounds (the next 'cheapest' I've found is around the £ 100 mark). Put simply this controller does everything i expected it to and more. On a final note, though i'm sure it's been mentioned before, although the picture shows an 'all in one unit' the Throttle and flight stick can be split (which is how i have mine).

I used to have a Saitek X52 which was a very good joystick - unfortunately, it was and is quite expensive and I couldn't quite justify spending so much when I got the flight sim bug again recently after a few years. The Hotas X is not quite as solid as the X52, and it doesn't have quite so many buttons and hats, but it is about a third of the price. I love it - the entire design ethos seems to have been "let's build it with a budget, but make it as good as we can". The stick is solid and responsive (with an adjustment wheel underneath). The throttle has a useful midway detent. And unlike some cheaper sticks it has a twist rudder as well. The base is not exactly heavy, but it's wide enough to provide good support. Again - they've stripped out some premium features, but made the basics work as well as you could want. As other reviewers have noted, one downside is the short cable between the two sections if you want the throttle on your left and the stick on your right (especially to match up with Elite Dangerous). It's just about long enough, but you end up with the cable stretched over you which is a little awkward. It seems like it was designed to be used on a desk in front of you, and it's a shame they didn't use a detachable cable like some other designs that you could swap out. I've been using it with DCS World where it works great - I was worried I'd miss the extra buttons and wheels of the X52, but it really does work as a good HOTAS since I rarely have to resort to the keyboard. Buttons-wise, there's a trigger, a second button for the trigger-finger, a hat-stick and two buttons on top of the joystick - together these are good for launching/switching weapons and slewing/locking sensors. The throttle has three big thumb buttons (useful for switching modes/sensors), a little thumb button I use for countermeasures, plus two finger buttons I use as clutch/modifier buttons which essentially triple the number of functions. On the throttle base are two more buttons I use for flap settings. If you can afford a Saitek X52, you probably won't think twice about getting one. But if you're unsure, get the Hotas X - you won't even notice what you're missing.

Like many others, I got Elite:Dangerous a few months ago and decided I wanted to use a HOTAS controller. Not knowing whether I would like E:D I didn't want to spend a lot, so I picked up a Speedlink Black Widow (the cheapest HOTAS I could find). Well within no time at all it was clear that E:D had me hooked, and I started looking at possible upgrades from the Black Widow, which, while a decent enough controller for the price, is not particularly accurate, has a limited number of buttons and lacks yaw control on the stick (though it does have an analog rocker button axis on the throttle which I use for yaw). I shortlisted the X52 from Saitek and the T-Flight from Thrustmaster. I spent a long time reading/watching reviews and trying to weigh up the pros and cons of both given that there is obviously a substantial price difference. In the end I was swayed by many positive reviews to go for the cheaper T-Flight. This was a mistake, and I shall explain why:- Whilst it is undoubtedly a good controller for the money, it is still very much an entry level HOTAS and as such is constructed of very inexpensive materials. Had this been the first HOTAS I bought, I would probably have been happy enough, but as I already have the Black Widow, it is just not enough of an upgrade and in some ways is inferior to that slightly cheaper stick. The T-Flight has slightly improved precision over the Black Widow along with a few more buttons and the additional yaw axis on the stick itself, but when I compare the feel of the two, the Black Widow wins hands down. Whilst it is still plastic, it has a kind of soft-touch finish to it which is so much more comfortable than the hard plastic of the T-Flight. Also the buttons have a very cheap, loud, 'clicky' feel to them and the trigger is quite uncomfortable on the T-Flight whereas the buttons on the Black Widow are more 'cushioned', and the trigger is larger with more rounded edges. For me at least, this makes moderate to prolonged use far easier/more comfortable with the Black Widow. TL;DR Good enough as a cheap, entry level HOTAS. Not a good choice as an upgrade from the Speedlink Black Widow.

I have used this item for many hours a day, every day for over three months and am extremely happy with it. I couldn't imagine playing Elite Dangerous without this HOTAS. I bought this after trying the Saitek X-55 Rhino and the Thrustmaster Warthog. This item is over £100 cheaper than the X-55 and over £200 less than the Warthog so I was not expecting much. However it turns out to be absolutely marvellous - when split, the throttle and joystick sit neatly either side of my keyboard and so at a very natural spacing for control. The joystick is a good height, with a comfortable rest for the heel of your hand so your hand isn't held up as high as with those other two systems and so produces less strain. The big plus is with the throttle, this is nowhere near as massive as the other two systems (which take over your desk) but is a delight to use with some great features. For example; the base has a "domed" (curved) upper surface so you can rest your wrist on it whilst still controlling the throttle lever and accessing the buttons. (The other two systems I mentioned give you a real ache in the arm and wrist after even a short time, not so this one.) The various buttons are well placed and are sufficient although of course a few extra and another hat switch would have been great but for the price you can't complain. I have had no issues with this item but even if the buttons failed or the axes became wild after the guarantee period, I could still buy replacements two times and still be cheaper than the X-55 and not have drivers issues not have some great lump take over my desk space. In summary - buy this item - you won't regret it.

Review changed to 1 star 08/01/16. Having spent a lengthy period fixing the interconnecting cable and making it much longer, I plugged the hotas back in, and proceeded to enjoy an ED session again... for 15 minutes. Button 5 on the throttle then proceeded to break. The actual microswitch inside the throttle that makes up the button broke. From web research, it appears that this is also an issue for others. Cheap plastic microswitches are used. Apparently, opening up the throttle it can be fixed with some plastic & some glue, but here we go again... Initially, I thought this was good value for the cheap price. However, the amount of hours I've had to spend modifying & fixing this now I have changed my mind. Save up a little more, and buy a more expensive & better made hotas, like the CH, Saitek, or Warthog. The build quality on these sticks are appalling. At least I only have to wait a couple of weeks for my X55 to arrive now! This one is going in the bin, where it belongs! Review changed 06/01/16 to 3 stars entirely due to length of interconnecting cable. The interconnecting cable is extremely short, so be wary if you plan to use this in a DIY "chair" setup, as many of us playing ED like to do. Also, the interconnecting cable is hard wired (soldered) with 16 core cable, so the only way of extending it is to cut & rewire it yourself (which is hit & miss). Why they didn't give any options for extending this properly is quite beyond me, and is a well noted design faux pas if you search the internet on the subject. I enjoyed the throttle & also the joystick form & sensitivity, but for games where no shift modifier is allowed, you might find a slight lack of hatswitches, buttons, & toggles. It's a good starter piece of kit, and a lot of pilots will be very happy with it, but unfortunately I'm already changing mine & upgrading to another setup.

I love it. Smooth faultless operation, comfortable to handle, strong construction and most importantly works exceptionally well. I use it primarily with Flight Sim X Gold edition on Windows 10. Tip for those having problems using FS X on Windows 10 with registration problems is: To over-come the registration problem run FS X in "Administration" mode and registration confirmation is obtained.

Da mein alter Joystick (einfache Ausführung, ohne seperaten Gashebel) vor einer Weile den Geist aufgab, musste ein Ersatz her. Ich entschied mich für den T.Flight Hotas Stick X und bereue den Kauf bisher nicht. Nach einigen Flugstunden mit dem Microsoft Flight Simulator X (dabei "queerbeet" Jets geflogen wie A319, A320, A321, B738, B744 und A388), kann ich folgendes zu dem Stick sagen: Die "Installation" könnte nicht einfacher sein - einfach das USB-Kabel (mit über 2 m Länge mehr als ausreichend, auch wenn der PC ein Stückchen weiter wegsteht) einstecken und losfliegen. Lediglich die individuelle Belegung der einzelnen Knöpfe muss noch vorgenommen werden, ansonsten kann direkt und ohne weitere Einstellungen oder Treiberinstallation losgeflogen werden. Super! Sowohl Stick, als auch Gashebel liegen sehr gut in der Hand und wirken wenn auch aus Plastik und nicht wirklich hochwertig aussehend robust. Eine super Sache sind die vielen Knöpfe an Stick und Gashebel, die man ganz nach Wunsch belegen kann. Ich nutze sie z. B. für Klappen ein-/ausfahren, Reverser, Autopilot ein/aus, Fahrwerk ein-/ausfahren, Sicht verändern (am Gashebel) und Autobrake ein/aus, Bremsen, umsehen, sowie Kommunikationsfenster öffnen/schließen am Stick. Der Widerstand, mit dem der Stick bewegt werden kann ist an der Unterseite einstellbar. Der Stick reagiert bereits auf kleine Bewegungen und ist dadurch unglaublich präzise. In der Zeit zwischen defekt meines alten Stick und Ankunft des neuen, flog ich gezwungenermaßen mit Tastatur. Nun im direkten Vergleich Tastatur - Stick, dazwischen liegen Welten. Natürlich gab es auch vorher mit dem alten Stick schon einen riesen Unterschied zum fliegen ausschließlich mit Tastatur, doch alleine schon dass man bei diesem Gerät einen seperaten Gashebel hat, gibt noch einmal ein ganz anderes und realistischeres feeling. Dazu kommt die Präzision des Stick - einfach wunderbar. Der seperate Gashebel kann entweder mit der Basis des Stick verbunden werden, sodass aus beiden eine Einheit wird, oder beide können getrennt voneinander aufgestellt werden. Möchte man möglichst realitätsnahe fliegen, wird der Stick auf die rechte und der Gashebel auf die linke Seite gestellt, so wie es auch in Flugzeugen auf der Seite des Co-Piloten ist. Der Gashebel lässt sich von Nullstellung bis 100% flüssig bewegen. Bei 50% ist eine "Stufe", bzw ein kleiner Widerstand eingebaut, der aber mit schwachem Druck überwunden werden kann. Sehr gelungen sind wie bereits oben erwähnt die zusätzlichen Tasten, die ganz nach belieben belegt werden können. Leider kann beim Gashebel nicht eingestellt werden, wie leicht- oder schwergängig er sich bewegen lässt. Eine weitere Sache habe ich beim Gashebel zu bemängeln: In der Nullstellung wird in Microsoft FSX 1% Schubleistung angezeigt. Hier sollte logischerweise wenn der Hebel auf 0 steht auch keine Leistung vorhanden sein. Schiebt man den Hebel auf 100%, werden nur 99% Leistung angezeigt. Auch mehrfaches kalibrieren konnte daran nichts ändern. Es ist zwar schade, dennoch sehe ich das ganze nicht so eng, da es lediglich 1% Abweichung ist. Auch darf man nicht vergessen, dass es sich hier um einen Stick für knapp 40 € handelt und nicht um ein hunderte Euro teures Simulatorzubehör. Aufgefallen ist mir noch, dass das USB Kabel, bzw. der Stecker der in den Stick führt m. M nach ein wenig Spiel hat und etwas "locker" wirkt. Vielleicht soll das auch so sein und der Anschluss hat einfach ein wenig mehr "Bewegungsfreiheit", wodurch er flexibler ist. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass dies keine Schwachstelle ist und kein Defekt auftritt. Insgesamt finde ich den Stick samt abtrennbaren Gashebel sehr gelungen. Beides funktioniert nahezu perfekt in Microsoft FSX. Mit diesem Gerät macht das fliegen erst richtig Spaß - vor allem dann, wenn man wie ich übergangsweise rein mit Tastatur geflogen ist. Von mir gibt es eine klare Kaufempfehlung.

El joystick se siente muy bien ,por el precio no me esperaba un producto tan completo,Prácticamente viene configurado para que la asignacion de botones funcione inmediatamente ,que por supuesto puede hacerse paso a paso dentro del simulador (p3d,rise of flight,il2) tiene muchos botones asignables y los dos mandos (joystick y potencia) responden muy bien,en resumen un joystick robusto,funcional,comodo y configurable a muy buen precio.

Ha sido mi primer kit de vuelo ya que llevaba tiempo interesado en este mundillo y me decidí iniciar con este hotas que tenia muy buena valoración, y encima estaba en ofertas de prime day y me lo pille por 50 euros. ✅ Lo bueno - Muy barato (Me valió mas el juego que el hotas) - Fácil de configurar - Fácil de usar. - Buena calidad. - Perfecto para principiantes. ❌ Lo malo - Hay unos pocos botones que son algo difíciles de alcanzar y no se ni para que son, pero eso es cosa mía principalmente. En general es un hotas perfecto para iniciarse en este mundillo de la simulación de aviación, es totalmente recomendado, y si te lo encuentras en ofertas esta casi regalado, cuesta menos que el juego en si. Aunque el juego consume mucha potencia, si tienes un ordenador barato no te va a correr, mira si tu ordenador lo soporta primero y luego ya decides, además esta a punto de salir la versión del 2024 en noviembre, así que a lo mejor espérate un poquito.

Questo joystick-hotas da volo è da un po' in catalogo ed è stato aggiornato in versioni specifiche per console più recenti (il mio è quello per PS3) ma per PC/Mac nulla cambia per cui questo "vecchio" ha un prezzo estremamente favorevole. Qualità eccellente in generale, accuratamente costruito con buoni materiali, ha una miriade di tasti e un asse anche davanti alla manetta della potenza motore che può essere configurato come timone - molto pratico. Ricordate di fissare le due parti (base joystick e base manetta) tra loro con le viti a brugola da sotto (apposito chiavino fornito sotto la base stessa) perché all'inizio non mi era così evidente di doverlo fare e i due pezzi, pur incastrandosi reciprocamente, ogni tanto tendevano a... liberarsi. Utilizzato sia con PC (Win7) che con Mac (iMac 27'') con X-Plane 11 che ne prevede la specifica configurazione. Se sul Mac non sapete come calibrarlo (non ho trovato l'apposita utility), e quella dell'applicazione non basta, a me ha funzionato farlo sul PC (con l'apposita utility ThrustMaster) e poi una volta riallacciato al Mac lo si ritroverà... stabile (evidentemente memorizza internamente la configurazione). Ottimo, confido che duri!
