Great learning tool while be fun
Rocksmith 2014 Edition with Real Tone Cable (Xbox One)Personally i only bought this as i needed another real tone cable and value wise it was a steal considering the real tone cable are getting expensive However, i must have played around a couple of hundreds hours since the release of Rocksmith. This is a great tool to help you get into the world of guitar, while just playing to tunes in comfort. The game comes with a 'riff repeater' which allows you to play parts of a song over at a slower pace and it builds up speed. If you want to learn some techniques then this game offers some really nice mini games for scales, chords, bending, slides, etc. Which really bring fun into playing the same exercise over and over although sometimes frustrating but Ive always enjoyed them.I know people complain alot about lag ive played this on the PS4 which wasn't too bad the PS5 was different and at some points became unplayable while other times could be fine.On the Xbox series x this wasn't too bad i actually felt it played better with less lag input or framerate issues. than the PS4 and PS5 i never played this on the xbox one console but i would think its rather the same. This is doesn't change the fact that if you want to become a better guitar player then practice and theory is still the way forward however, this will still be somewhat a good learning tool.

Possibly not for the serious guitarist, but a really great bit of kit!
This is a great game Xbox game bought for my 10 year old. I wasn't expecting much as it seemed too good to be true, but it really does work. Things I especially like:- It's got a built in tuner, so no faffing around- The cable is really good quality, even after 6m use, no visible wear and tear- You have a profile that remembers your progress- It has multiple options, all of which help with actual guitar playing in one way or another, but can be varied depending on your mood. Has a whole load of arcade games that my son likes to play when he's not up to much in the way of effort!- It sets you 'missions' according to your ability and keeps score- It has loads of well known songs for you to try to master - you get to do this incrementally - it starts off where you only have to hit a few notes and builds up from there according to your progress- The voice-overs and background music / sound effects are pleasant / not annoyingI am always amazed that this doesn't have more prominence - I can only assume it's massive somewhere in the world!

I was a bit wary as some reviews said that they had experienced lag which reduced the playing enjoyment. In fact
Ok, firstly I know sod all about guitars. I've always wanted to learn but never have until now. I was a bit wary as some reviews said that they had experienced lag which reduced the playing enjoyment. In fact, you get a warning notice in the game about lag and how to combat it.Now I'm not sure whether it's my hearing or I've dropped lucky with my TV as I get ZERO lag, soon as I play a note it's instant and the amps on the screen show sound waves to match the sound. So like I said, I know sod all about guitars and this is why I bought RockSmith 2014. It's dead easy to set up and I find the lessons relatively easy to follow. It's not easy but the game does learn from you, so if you're rubbish, the song will slow down to a crawl to allow you to get your finger positions sorted and then speed back up when you're improving. There are a selection of cheesy side games that help with frets and positions too.If you haven't played guitar before then I really think this is the way to go, as lessons are not cheap and your game can't become frustrated with your inability.

Great way to learn!
Always wanted to learn to play an instrument (preferably the drums) but did not have the time or money for lessons. At first i thought learning to play the guitar would be out of my skill range so did not bother with last gen incarnation. After a friend told me that he had started to learn the guitar and Rocksmith was a lot more interesting than repetitive lessons. Now I'm not saying it's better than actual guitar lessons but this way of learning appeals to someone like me, who prefers the gaming side of it. (ie) it's similar to guitar hero in the way you learn the songs with the 6 strings at the front of the screen and which note on a sort of conveyer belt thing you must hit. There's a difficult, speed and riff repeater that allows you to master a verse. There's obviously lessons from very basic (holding a guitar- bends and hammer ons). Technique games are quite good fun if you fancy a break from lessons. Focus on hitting the correct strings, chords etc.If you're like me who wants to learn via something you enjoy (gaming), it's worth a pop and a lot cheaper than lessons I managed to get a decent left hand Squier for £100 + Game= £150= bargain!!Obviously the more you put in, the better results you will get. There's a 60 day challenge which Rocksmith state you can learn a song whilst tracking your progress which you track online once you've linked your account, but unfortunately that part of it doesn't seem to work, this is why it lost a star.

Great fun and a great learning tool
Actually the second copy as the first was damaged in transit (though replaced with no hassle by Amazon) Have been playing guitar on and off for the better part of a decade, and this is by far the easiest way I have found to pick up some great songs. Similar format to rock bands and guitar heroes of old, it slow builds you up, adding more notes as you play before taking them away completely when you've fully learned all the parts. Great catalogue of songs and if you (like me) already had this for the Xbox 360, any dlc you purchased can be transferred to your Xbox one (though you have to do this by individual song rather than packs if you purchased them this way originally). Session mode gives you the option to play around with settings and different tones and amp types.

Fun Way to Play Guitar!
I received my copy of Rocksmith 2014 for the Xbox One last week, and I've enjoyed playing it for a few hours since then. It's really an outstanding tool to get you using your guitar; I'm amazed by how well they managed to make a Guitar Hero-style game that actually uses a real guitar. I am not entirely convinced that I would become great at playing the guitar just from this game--you're learning tabs; the game is feeding you rhythms and stuff, so you don't have to think as much about what you're doing; you don't have the benefit of someone teaching you fingerings/technique--but compared to how much I played my guitar prior to receiving this game (very little) and how much I've been playing it since (a lot more), there is a solid benefit to be had here.As someone who grew up taking traditional piano lessons, I have to say that it's so much more fun and motivating to have the ability to play along to some of your favorite songs in what is essentially guitar karaoke (so many songs are still as of summer 2024 available as DLC that it's kind of overwhelming) than to do a bunch of Hanon exercises or something, though as I mentioned above, there's a benefit to be had from disciplined practice of the fundamentals that I am not sure whether Rocksmith 2014 will be able to provide. Either way, though, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and am having fun. Any amount of playing an instrument is infinitely better than no time at all, though you still need to make sure that you're practicing diligently to improve. Some negatives: input lag issues can be finicky to resolve--since your guitar is not designed to be a video-game controller, you have to tinker with settings and connections a bit to make sure that A) your audio isn't lagging the video and B) your video isn't lagging the audio. The game includes a video timing correction setting that you can tinker with for the latter, and for the former, it recommends that you plug into analog speakers or headphones rather than using HDMI out to the TV for sound. This is obviously a minor nuisance. The game also sometimes isn't entirely clear about whether you "missed" a note because of a timing issue or a pitch issue or something else, which can be rather frustrating. It does well in like 85% of cases, but sometimes it doesn't seem to 'hear' quite right. Also, the music licensing scheme for the game is from the early 2000s--other than the plentiful included songs, which cover a wide variety of genres and are generally quite good--you buy your songs piecemeal. So, if you want a particular track, that'll be $3 please. This isn't a pro or a con per se--you can control how much you spend and what you spend on, and presumably you will have access to that DLC in perpetuity once you purchase it. Just be aware that if you want to play a bunch of cool DLC songs, the money adds up pretty fast.
