this is a book for beginners or intermediate carvers, true, most of it is concerned with carving the wood spirit found on the cover but the techniques and tips that the author goes into in such detail will be useful in any future carving project a budding carver will undertake. it is really a 'how to carve' book, not full of pics of 'stuff i carved before'

What great detailed descriptions and photo’s,Value for money and plenty of patterns really good for the carvers out there.

While a very clear and concise book, over 75 pages (out of 133) are a detailed photo course on just one project, if you want a detailed book with an in depth tutorial talking you through just the one project it's very good.

Easy to follow

I have bought this book as a present for my son who is a tree surgeon and who wants to learn carving as a hobby. The book has exceeded my expectations with great details, pictures and ideas. For once I have chosen a gift that I know will be welcomed and enjoyed.

This is a great book l have done a bit of carving in my time but not off this subject so I cannot wait to get started 😊
