Makes the job easier.
If you’re going to use the smooth over plastering product then you’re going to need the right tools, the roller I probably could have done without, but the giant squeegee thing was really useful.

These made the job work

There’s a knack to using smooth over. I don’t have it!
The tools are fine, the price inc delivery was the cheapest I found. The product you use them with I found difficult to use on a large area

Not great
Used this on a bathroom wall which had very old, pockmarked plaster. The project concept is a good one- spread a bunch of filler over the cracks/dips, which will "self-level", and then scrape off excess with the squeegee. Simple, right? Not so much. The scraper is not very good for this job-unless you are very very controlled about the pressure you are applying you'll get areas which the scraper digs deeper into the filler, leaving uneven patches and ridges. The filler itself is very thick and doesn't spread very easily, which makes the process much more difficult. Also, the amount of sanding that needs to be done once it dries was a serious problem- with even fine sandpaper leaving graze marks that showed up when painting later. It looks ok, certainly better than the old plaster, but if you want a high standard of finish don't use this.

Useful tool
I didn't use the roller but the blade works really well. I was using a steel plastering trowel but it tended to leave too much filler to rub down. The blade spreads the filler really thinly and evenly although it's a rubber edge. Worth the money.

End finish good, after practice
All good, quality to use, reliability from a brand name,

Great!
Really good tools to use when skimming walls. Definitely great for novice DIYers.

Not as expected
From a premium brand and manufacturer I had limited time to skim over the walls prior to the work in the room being completed, I had used Polycell smooth over before at our sons home and ordered the large tub of smooth over and the toolkit which arrived the following day. I started to roll out and smooth over the walls but having just done two or three 1msq sections was very dissapointed to find the end cap falling off and the hollow part of the roller back filled with the polycell mixture... It was a mess and the end cap wouldn't stay on, I had no choice but to use a small scraper/spatula to try to spread the skim over the walls, time consuming, messy and wasteful. So basically avoid the toolkit and perhaps find an alternative way to spread the smoothover, don't rely on the roller out of the kit.
