Fiddes Wax Polish Clear 400ml

I have a smallish round oak table that had been previously waxed in a dark oak colour. I wanted to brighten it up so I stripped it, then purchased this supreme wax polish from Fiddies & Sons. I wasn't sure what colour to go for as I didn't want it dark so I got the clear. Pretty easy stuff to use! Smells Devine! You just have to give it a lot of elbow grease and ensure you don't use too much, as well as rubbing it in the direction of the grain. After letting it dry I did another coat and let that dry. Then I polished it and it has a beautiful shine to it now :) I would definitely recommend this wax! Just did exactly what I wanted it to and my oak table is now a lovely warm but light colour. Also I hardly used any of the wax in the tin, loads left for future applications. Super happy thanks!

This wax is simply superb. I have used this wax on two different furniture restorations and the results are amazing. Applied to bare wood prepared by sanding down with fine abrasive paper, several applications of Fiddes wax produces a rich lustrous shine that really brings out the beautiful tones of hardwoods like teak and oak. Two tips though - ensure the lid is properly closed after use and protect the tin from extremes of temperature as the wax will shrink and harden, presumably as the solvents are lost. I have used both a soft paint brush and a soft cloth to apply the wax - both equally effective, depending on the surface and intricacy of the piece. Very effective and highly recommended when used in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines.

The tin was damaged when it arrived. The wax was in solid state and could not be applied with a brush. So I used a sponge to apply it,

Great product for bare finished wood. There is no skill required using this. The product is clear so no worries about getting an even finish. Just rub it on with a clean rag and buff with another clean rag. The finish is beautiful. I have used it on walnut furniture from India and for a large light oak window sill. Both look amazing. I have also seen it used on a antique mahogany chest. The shine on that dark would was amazing. Personally I would not bother getting the colour versions as this does the job no matter what colour your would is and it lets the wood show off its natural beauty.

I purchased this Fiddes and Sons Light Wax Polish from Amazon as it was a very reasonable price, previous to this we had paid £14.95 for it from a well known furniture supplier when we purchased new oak furniture from them. The supplier now provides this polish with their own brand name on the tin, but with us dealing with the same company a couple of times over the last few years, they previously provided the same polish made by Fiddes, I am assuming that their purchasing power is now so strong that they have simply re-branded the polish as their own. This polish is about as good as it gets when using it on raw oak furniture, not only does it protect the wood and feed it with the natural oils from the wax, but it also enhances the wood to a dramatic effect. When treating raw oak for the first time the difference when waxed and polished is quite astonishing as the wax brings all the grain colours and beatifies the wood amazingly. You cannot go wrong with this Fiddes Wax Polish as it is a natural way of protecting and enhancing the beauty of real raw wood of any type, it will protect the wood from moisture, heat from central heating and feeds the wood with natural oils and will discourage drying out and distortion of the wood, first rate and highly recommended.

Much better value than buying the equivalent direct from the furniture retailer. Great application with a good lint free cloth. I was able to pick the wax up onto my cloth then work it into the oak very easily and quickly. Buffed to a rich finish nicely. Used on pre-treated Oak, the clear finish caused no discolouration, it simply enhanced the finish. Not sure what it would do to untreated wood but it is a very light colour in the tin so I wouldn't expect it to cause any real staining - based on what it did to my rustic oak unit (no colour change).
