Elgato Wave DX Dynamic XLR Microphone, Cardioid Pattern

This microphone has been in weekly service for nearly 3 years now and has performed exceptionally well. When paired with an in-line signal booster, I have all the gain I need and then some. Sounds clear and picks up speech very accurately. The mount is versatile and the looks are also very appealing. Would definitely recommend.

This is genuinely a steal for its price, I own a Shure SM7B and out of the box I loved this mic a lot more. With more effects and set up the Shure will definitely sound better, however not everyone is willing to pay $500 for a mic, especially when a >$100 mic sounds fairly similar. The size of the mic is what baffled me as well, doesn’t take up too much space and gives you clear view of everything happening around your desk especially with how invasive boom arms can be.

By far this is an AMAZING microphone. Elgato KILLED it with this. Yes, it needs an XLR interface, but you can find affordable options on Amazon (and the Elgato XLR is always an option). Because it’s XLR, the quality is crazy good. Very clear, great levels, manageable range, easy to use with OBS and other software, and a great price. It’s not top-tier Shure or Sennheiser quality, but the sound quality is phenomonal for the price you spend. If you’re using a boom arm, the weight is good, not heavy (though if you use a “cheap” arm, you may have an issue). The mic is also a good size, not big and uses its space very effectively. I’d highly recommend this mic for anyone who wants to record video with audio or stream on Youtube/Twitch.

Just started using it and I love it. Did a little EQ with it on my GOXLR and it sounds super clear. When I'm not speaking there is 0 background noise coming through, not even my super loud old clicky razer keyboard or the TV right next to me comes through. BUT when you speak, some stuff does pick up in the background but I'm sure you could easily filter that out if you're anal about it with some noise suppression through discord or OBS or whatever software your using if you have stuff going on in the background like I do. Simple mount, plug it up, and play.

I recently got this as part of a Christmas buying binge to rebuild my streaming setup and was pleased with the quality of the mic with my Wave XLR that I got to act as an audio interface it works great other than occasional hiccups created due to interactions with the wave link software and applications like voice mod or other things that use virtual audio devices above the ones provided by wave link though that might be just a me thing due to using various vst plugins to help modify the audio across the different devices. The build quality was outstanding, and with a small adapter kit, I could attach it to a proper shock mount for my mic arm, which greatly reduced the reverberations and handling noise from the stand's movement. It can take a little fiddling figuring out how to set the gain in the software and get the audio levels good for whatever you plan to use it for but once you get it locked in it works amazing.

Pros: - Is square and looks neat - Sounds (APPARENTLY) as good, if not a little better, than my Samson GTrack Pro (based on friends feedback) - Solidly built - Boom arm/mic stand screw-in adapter is nice to have Cons (nothing major): - Doesn't come with it's own xlr cable - Barebones starter mic so no on-mic controls of any kind like you'd find on a Shure, and again no xlr cable ----------------- My only personal gripe is it is too powerful for my craptop i guess. All my audio dies frequently when using the mic and the interface it's plugged into. Might be the interface (an MAudio Solo), might be the mic, might be the craptop. But yeah that's neither here nor there, i spose. The mic is great regardless 👍🏽

Devo fare una confessione: per anni sono stato un accumulatore seriale di microfoni. Un innamoramento nato ai tempi in cui il podcast era il mio mestiere e la mia passione, e che mi ha portato a provarne di ogni tipo. Il copione era sempre lo stesso: entusiasmo iniziale, e poi, dopo qualche settimana d'uso, l'immancabile comparsa del difetto che mi rovinava l'idillio. Con questo Wave DX partivo prevenuto. Pensavo: sarà l'ennesima spesa, l'ennesimo doppione destinato ad affollare uno scaffale già saturo. E invece — con mia sorpresa — mi ha conquistato. Un po' anche perché nel frattempo ho appeso i podcast al chiodo, sia chiaro, ma il merito principale è tutto suo. Il punto è che sulla voce funziona in modo esemplare. Il timbro non è mai né troppo cupo né sgradevolmente acuto, niente ronzii di fondo a rovinare la registrazione, e il gain si calibra con precisione senza troppi tentennamenti. A questo si aggiunge un comparto software particolarmente ricco, disponibile sia su computer che su dispositivi mobili, che permette di rifinire il risultato nei dettagli. Ma la vera soddisfazione è di quelle che chi ha a che fare con la propria voce registrata conosce bene.
