Excellent product. Easy to use with clear picture instructions. If you are using fabric that may fray easily I would recommend leaving an extra 1cm strip on the edge that will form the outside seam and folding this over using the double-sided tape. It makes a neater finish on the visible seam. These are a great way to use your favourite remnants.

My god these kits are fantastic! Quality is amazing and excellent value. I made two small shades for the bedside lamps and one larger for ceiling light! The instructions and kit are brilliant! Turning/pocking the fabric into the frame is the hardest part. Time consuming but so worth taking the time to do it properly! Only thing I did differently that wasn’t in the instructions is using the double sided tape (enough in pack) I turned the fabric back on itself to finish it off as per photo, as my fabric was the fraying type! The sticky paper template used to stick the fabric to is nice a thick so when the light is on it retains the look of the fabric (Not transparent). Would definitely buy more!

I bought two of these and followed a YouTube video to make light shades. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Would recommend.

I saw some lampshades I loved on Amazon. Found some matching material to make curtains from online, and planned my entire living room redecorate around them. Then when I'd saved up enough to buy them- they were out of stock. And the material for my curtains was discontinued. Thousands of samples later I finally found something similar to the original design that I'd loved, but no luck finding lampshades, so a kit it was. I admit I had my doubts, especially after watching the video, and roped a friend in to helping me out, but I probably could have managed on my own- I'd thought the rolling the two metal rings together was going to be difficult, but it was actually very easy and we more or less freewheeled them in to place! As you can see, the edges are very neat, although we did find the inner seam gaped open and was very hard to fix retroactively- so I highly recommend applying a line of double sided tape to the outer material seam as well as the piece on the inner seam at the other end so you can seal the seam up at both edges. I ended up having to slide a piece underneath the completed lamp with the gaping seam then use needle tweezers to grasp the back of the double sided tape to remove it! There's also a dirty sticky mark on the inner shade from where the inside touches the sticky edge, which I would recommend cleaning off before hanging, as it's rather difficult afterwards. As for the actual neatening of the material around the rings- it was both easy and difficult. The tool provided was a hopeless bendy thing, and I ended up using a medium guitar pick to push the material inside the ring, but it was so small it really made it difficult to grip and my carpal tunnel did not thank me- after about a third of one edge my hand and wrist were aching and made finishing the job rather miserable. However, after a long struggle, I now have two very nice lampshades that match my curtains... even if I did accidentally do one upside down!

I'm so happy with my finished lampshade which is using up some wallpaper offcuts. The instructions video is be brilliant. As I was using wallpaper instead of fabric I had to adapt a bit. First of all wallpaper isn't wide enough so you have to pattern match a join. I held this together with a small strip of double sided tape. However, I did forget to take off the tape on the other side before I stuck down the lampshade panel. It shows a bit when the light is on but not the end of the world! You also need to stick a length of double sided tape to the long overlapping edges so you can fold the paper inside after you've rolled it up. It ended up being easier than I expected so I'm happy.

Très contente de mon achat. Kit complet, fournitures au top. Notice d'explication en anglais mais facile à traduire sur internet. Tutoriel vidéo en français très facile à comprendre avec toutes les étapes bien détaillées. J'ai réussi à me refaire un abat-jour comme une pro pour un prix très abordable.

Ich habe mit dem Bausatz eine Lampe fürs Kinderzimmer gebastelt, die richtig professionell aussieht. Das Basteln ist nicht schwer, sollte aber auf jeden Fall von einem Erwachsenen übernommen werden. Preislich lohnt sich das wirklich, schöne Lampenschirme sind ja unglaublich teuer und hier habe ich inklusive Kosten für den Stoff gerade mal gut 20 Euro bezahlt. Bei der Wahl des Motivs sollte man allerdings beachten, dass der Umfang der Lampe natürlich festgelegt ist, d.h. an der Schnittkante kommt es zwangsläufig zu einem Bruch im Motiv (auf meiner Lampe sind an der Stelle jetzt zum Beispiel zwei halbe Hunde). Beim nächsten Mal würde ich also glaube ich kein ganz so großflächiges Motiv wählen, da fällt das dann sicher weniger auf. Bei meinem Bastelset war ausreichend Klebeband dabei. Die Anleitung ist sehr ausführlich und weist gut auf mögliche Fehler hin, allerdings sollte man grundlegende Englischkenntnisse mitbringen, mit den Abbildungen alleine wäre ich glaube ich nicht so gut zurecht gekommen.
