Review: Excellent mounting point for my two bikes.... - Having just had a bike stolen from my garage I decided I really needed to look into some proper security....the dog never even woke up! Ordered the Strong Hold Above Ground lock which arrived very quickly so got down to installing it straight away. Read the instructions but to be honest it was very easy to fit as I have an SDS drill which made like work of making the holes, just needed to get final size correct using the large dill bit supplied with the item. All fitted and road bike now locked to the floor mount which looks and feels 100% solid and secure. Got a door defender on its way as well so feel very secure with door protection and bikes chained to the floor. Excellent product and very easy fitting, only took about 30 mins or so.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what's to stop a thief from just unbolting it?**
A: Nothing is ever completely theft-proof. If a thief really wants something, they will get it. However, anything you can do to make this as noisy and time-consuming as possible helps deter would-be thieves from even bothering because there are likely much easier targets in your area. To get to the bolts, they'd have to contend with removing the cover, removing the hammered-on caps and ball bearings under those, and then unbolting the screws. It would take them a lot of effort and a really long time, and they'd likely make a lot of noise doing it. Unless you've got something really valuable and you don't have any neighbors, I don't see any thieves bothering with this stuff. This is about as safe as you can get your bike chain anchors.

**Q: How difficult is it to remove in order to change location? (example, moving to a new place)**
A: I think if you pound the metal bolt covers in to place after installation via directions that removal might be challenging.  I have not moved mine after it was installed, this is merely speculation.

**Q: how much damage is caused from installing this device?**
A: I embedded it into freshly laid concrete with the provided bolts. I didn't have to drill the holes, but it hasn't caused any damage the way I installed it. Hope that helped, sorry!

**Q: Is the ring one continuous piece of metal, or is it sort-of a C shape, with the ends of the C being hidden in the base?**
A: It is definitely ring-like, but I think the base part was welded to the C part.

Really solid lock for securing bikes using chains/locks too and is sold gold secure which attracted me after I had a bike stolen. Floor anchors are the way to go and police recommend this style of protection. Generally 10% of a bike cost should be spent on decent locks/security. Use this with a Kryptonite Sold Secure gold chain for really strong security. This is provided with the bolts and even the drill bits to drill into the floor. Once bolted in, I would say almost impossible to remove for adhoc thieves. Highly recommended
