Very good but with useage caveats
As a product that fulfils its title, it ticks all the boxes (or stars). Its very well made and, importantly, well designed. It has a look of quality and feel of durability around it. However, in use there are things to watch for that are not necessarily the fault of the product, more of its use and could be applied to other reusable mugs. Firstly, its stainless steel. The rubber grip around it provides an secure way of holding it, even with gloves but if you carry this externally (Ie in a pouch on the side of the bag) the whole lot eventually reduces down in temperature to meet the ambient. What this means in winter when your barista adds the coffee it can be going into a vessel that's as cold as a cup straight from the fridge, so ask them to give it a hot water rinse before adding the coffee. Once up to temperature its excellent at retaining the heat and keeps the contents hot enough for your walk to the office or for slow drinking. Talking of the grip, the diameter overall might not suit small hands so that's the only knock of a star of the ease of holding. The design means its leak proof, *if* you fasten it correctly. When the lid is screwed on it can appear ok, drink ok but with a gap a bit bigger than that required to put your thumbnail in it can leak. Its not a fault of the mug or design but in use the barista putting the lid on may not be familiar so ensure its properly screwed on. When you look at the size and capacity it seems ok, about a normal cup size. Its 355ml capacity is sort of inline with a 'tall' coffee. In use I've found that what you get from the barista is around 300ml. In places where they're not too diligent about how the milk is steamed or the quantity of foam to liquid, the resulting "Slopochino" means that what you get is very little liquid. IMHO, the foam in this mug adds no value so asking for 'no foam' gives better experience and value for money. I've also been charged for a 'medium' size drink (Ie one around 450ml) because the mug looks a lot larger than its true capacity. If it was plastic, ala the cheap Starbucks reusables, etc then its probably more closer but the raised bottom in this mug, while helping for the general heat retention, subtracts from the volume. So, make sure you ask for 'small/tall' and correct/challenge if they want to charge for medium. So, usability aside, its rather nice and would purchase again.

Leak free and keeps hot
Used this since 2023 3-5 days a week. Only time it leaks is when you over fill. Keep the liquid about 1cm below the internal cap thread. Keeps a cuppa tea hot for 2-3 hours in my experience. Goes in my backpack on 4 mile ride home with half a cup and doesn't leak.

practical and almost perfect
After checking out lots of travel mugs around Amazon I got to this one, on sale! As I am used to Bodum products it didn't take much to convince me to get 2 of these - for me and my wife - and so far no regreats. Dishwashable, easy to clean, easy to use. The lid is very simple and the sip hole is big enough and, at the same time, small enough for you not to get scalded. The lid is 99% leak proof, it doesn't spill easly but the small lid that cover the sip hole is very easy to open so if you drop this mug it's very likely to open and spill the contents. As for keeping liquids hot/warm, I found it very effective, I leave for work around 8.00 Am and fill it up with hot (never boiling) tea or chocolate and find still warm around lunch time - about 12.30 - so I take my lunch break to refill with more hot tea or chocolate and have a nice hot/warm drink for the afternoon. One point against it is the size of it. I can't get it to fit in my car cup holder as it it is a bit wide. That and the 99% leak proof is the only thing preventing me for giving it a 5 star review. I'm adding photos of it (if I can) UPDATE 23-09-2015 Autumn is starting so it's time to take this out of the kitchen cabinet. Let me tell you: 5 years after I bought these they are as good as new. OK, I didn't give them much use... may 2 or 3 times a week for the coldest months of the year (november to march, more or less) but still: no funky smells or odors accumulated (we range from several kinds of teas to coffee, lack or with milk), rubbers are still as good as new, no signs of rust. If you're like me and will give it an occasional use, this will last you at least until they find a way to serve you hot coffee or tea through a smartphone app!

Best I’ve found for car journeys
This is always been my favourite travel mug. I’ve always replaced with the same whenever I’ve sadly misplaced one. What I love is that I can get tea down to drinking temp around 30mins from boil by leaving the mouth lid open. Perfect for a car journey. The metal construction leaves the taste untainted. Great function at a great price

The BEST thermos for heat retention and keeping clean
This thermos is not remotely leak-proof and needs to be kept upright ....and I'm okay with that. Why? Because every leak-proof cup that I've tried is genuinely impossible to fully clean, even with all the tiny little bottle brushes, and so you are eventually drinking black mould. This is a doddle to clean in the dishwasher. I'm not sure if it is listed as dishwasher safe or not, but it took about 5 years of daily dishwashering for my previous one to need replacing (eventually the plastic lid didn't screw properly into the metal cup, and so wasn't secure.) It also holds its heat better than any other cup I've tried. It doesn't feel warm at all from the outside because all of the heat is held inside. The only downer to this is that I need to make my drink well in advance of leaving the house so that it has time to cool before I put the lid on, as if not it will take hours to cool to a drinkable temperature!

Leaks, poor quality.
I have had a Bodum travel mug for about 10 years. It is still in use and I’ve been carrying around a hot drink in it without any leaking at all. The lid can be a bit stiff and difficult to undo at times but it is still a usable good quality travel mug. I decided to treat myself to a new replacement Bodum travel mug. When it arrived it was lovely new and shiny and I made my first hot drink in it. However the lid and drinking spout leak. It leaks so badly that when turned upside down it pours out like a tap. I contacted Bodum saying it had a faulty lid and they replied saying that on their website it states that the travel mug will leak and must be kept upright. I feel that the quality of these travel mugs has declined over the years so would suggest purchasing other brands. I threw the lid away and have gone back to using my original 10 year old travel mug which certainly does not leak.

great travel mug.
Best mug, although not as good as the original as harder top and base which can crack easier. Keeps hot drinks warm for hours, great size for drinks, perfect to hold/carry with soft grip and easy to drink from. Also good thats its dishwasher proof.
