They fit on things, with their different sizes, and then the things have rubber end caps. Mission accomplished!

Perfect cap set for hobby

They like to pop off and are a little thin, but they will get the job done.

These were used on some standard sized, exposed screws and worked great. The set came in multiple sizes although I only needed one size. That worked great since I didn't really know what size I needed. I had to twist them on the threads vs. just sliding on and that makes sense so that they are grippy enough to not slide back off. Now I won't be scratching myself bloody and I have a nice selection in the toolbox for next time.

Lots of sizes! Used on furniture modification to cover exposed bolts. Need 3...big box store sold in package of 4 at 98 cents. Uh, yeah...much more cost effective for this package and a huge size collection.
