I disliked it within 5mins after the chubby stereotype stole what must have been over a hundred dollars of cash from the girl selling drinks.It didn't get better. This film didn't just focus on games from the 80's, it seems to have the stereotypes and racism from the 80's too.Couldn't get through to the end of the film, it was that bad, that is unlike me as I like to give films the chance to redeem themselves.When is Adam Sandler going to realize that things have moved on in the world including the film industry?It pinches the screaming relative scene straight from The Big Bang Theory.Once again, we see the US saving the world, this time in England...where the racism was so bad, I could no longer watch.Okay...the whole film is a joke film for children. It has a 12 Cert Rating! This is more like a film for 4 year olds.Dreadful, do not buy.

A long awaited tribute to the pixelated heroes on the Atari that kicked off home video gaming and killed the arcade machines. Without Galaga, Pac-Man, Centipede, Space Invaders, Atari, etc there wouldn’t be Spectrum, Commodore 64, Mega Drive, Super Nintendo, PlayStation 1,2,3,4,5 and all the consoles that followed. Most are up in my attic nowadays, but they all have their place in history and some fond memories. Pixels is an entertaining homage to a time when the arcade was brought into the family home...and we still had time for a kick about outside with friends...unlike today’s kids who cannot kick a football or ride a bike. Great film, brilliant cast and as imaginative as the great minds that brought us video gaming and so much fun...the graphics have advanced immensely, yet, in the 80s the pixels was mind blowing!

I keep coming back! Takes me into the beautiful world of retro gaming. Don't you just marvel at the combination of simple colour and sound patterns?!This universally pleasing aesthetic is woven with the not-so-simplistic comic genius of Adam Sandler who is the sardonical Sam Brenner. His character updates us from the 1980s to the 2010s, as we see the nerd who had to grow up; but who never recovered from losing to 'Fireblaster' Eddie in the 1982 Donkey Kong World Championships. Watch as our heroes unite, to combine with no less than the President of the USA (Kevin James, you are goofily wonderful) to take on an alien conspiracy threatening to turn planet earth into pixel dust! It would be nice to see a female hero who can be cast as the star of the show without having to be a slender butt-kicking gymnast. So I understand critics who say this movie is frustratingly stereotypical in the gender department. Maybe it doesn't develop the film in the way it could - I mean the possibilities of women who could play Lieutenant Van Patten could be so much more versatile. And the way men and women treat each other could always be better generally in life. But come on people: this is a wonderful show, bursting with imagination, humour and action.

I admit I am a little biased, as I grew up in the late 80s to early 90s and was a bit of a local legend when it came to arcade, game and watch games, a well as home entertainment system games. Though Street Fighter II was my game but seeing these classics as well as games take center stage I had to give this 5 stars just for the nostalgic reason. However the movie itself is pretty good as well. Yes the premise is a bit of a stretch and note every moment is lol but it entertained me all the way through. With the exception of a few curse words I was thinking to let my 9 year old game son watch it, but though better of it. I even like the whole story told in "Pixel" form in the end credits.Adam Sandler plays a arcade wizkid, with the ability to see the pattern in computer games. Unfortunately 30 years later these skill have not served him well. Until now when a alien race attack in the form of 80s computer game characters, now Sandler's ability to see patterns and defeat computer game have become a hot commodity. Teaming up with his old friends and greatest rivals can their gaming skills save the world. This is an enjoyable movie, but you have to have a soft spot of retro gaming to love it and get all the in jokes.

A lot of this movie is tongue in cheek, with the stereo-typical fat kids being nerds, and consequently growing up fat and lonely, but it's all part of the charm. The story takes on a quirky original idea of the earth being invaded by aliens who've watched a video of us playing computer games.It's a mix of some absolutely classic arcade games brought to life, a fair chunk of humour and some stunning special effects. I loved every minute of this, and will definitely be watching it again.

Well, the idea was good and reliving the 1980s video games was a lot of fun, but the storyline was very poor with long scenes that didn't add any value at all for me - I think you could have cut the running time by at least 30 minutes and not lost anything meaningful, and the film would have felt a lot tighter as a result.I also couldn't help feeling that this was an Adam Sandler benefit show (a bit like a sportsman's testimonial match near the end of their career...), with far too many of the Sandler family involved for my liking - wife, two kids and a nephew too. Not sure why Brian Cox, Sean Bean and Peter Dinklage got involved with this, though - it certainly didn't need their acting talents, so maybe they're just topping up their pension pots as well. But it was nice to see a bit of recognition for the inventor of Pac-Man, Toru Iwatani, who also appeared in a cameo role (as an arcade game repair man).I've rated it 3 stars as the video game action was a lot of fun, but the rest of the film was dire - keep your ffwd button handy is my advice...

Great film and fab to watch in 3D as well as 2D.. As an adult watching with my children 8 & 11 we think it is great. The rating is 12, but apart from some bad language I thought this was suitable for my children. The concept of using classic arcade games which aliens use to attack earth is original and these vintage games took me back to my youth. ( my son thinks it's cool I played these games ) Overall well worth a watch ( watched at least 7 times so far ) A family favourite. Who doesn't love Adam Sandler and Kevin James.
