Love Their Country

All CDs should be this fun! After the straight ahead country of half of the 1st track - it then cuts looose (and how!). The band are a group of USA Punk rockers who do covers for compilations - leaving their own compositions for their various bands. It's a lazy way to review - but I heard Pogues, Ramones and Damned influences loud & clear. 9 Tracks - 25 minutes (so it ain't prog rock) - but they do what any covers band should (bring something new to the party). Looks like I'll be buying more of their output!

When I first heard this album I thought that it was quite weak compared to previous Gimme releases. However, after a few more listens it really grew on me and is now probably my favourite Gimme album. Although a lot of the songs aren't instantly recognizable each one becomes more catchy with every listen. This album is definitely worthy of your collection. Highlights include Goodbye Earl, Jolene and Much Too Young.

They turn boring songs into fun renditions and your favourite songs you will fall in love with all over again. Stephen & Victoria Clark

A decent enough punk album I can actually play in my car without corrupting the lovely minds of my two small children.

i wouldnt be a country fan but my lady is and i knew most of these songs anyway but in this pop punk style they are greatly improved so i love it and whats more she loves it so its a constant in the car as it keeps us both happy. brilliant stuff

This album was a great disappointment after the high-quality offerings previously released by this covers band. Most of the songs on offer here will probably not have been heard of by most listeners and they seem so truncated. Most of the tracks clock in at around two minutes. The only highlights are You Fill Up My Senses and Jolene. For die-hard fans only. Newcomers would be better off with the brilliant Take A Break or Have A Ball.

don't listen to the other review, this is a great album. it's true that i hadn't heard many of the original versions of these tracks but i don't think that that takes anything awy from this CD. highlights include "googbye earl" originally by the dixie chicks and the theme tune from smokey and the bandit

人気のポップソングを自分たちでカバーしようと、 アメリカの音楽レーベル【FAT WRECK CHORDS】の人気バンド【NOFX】のファット・マイクが結成したバンドが【ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES】。 ちなみにME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMESは、FAT WRECK CHORDS所属の各バンドから選抜されたメンバーで構成されています。 彼らが奏でる、「パンクっぽく」「メロコアっぽく」のメロディーは、聴いていて本当に気持ちがいいものです。 もちろん今回の作品だって例外ではありません。 初めての人でも気持ちよく聴くことの出来る包容力とでも言うのでしょうか、とにかくこのバンドのメロディーにはそういうものがあります。 聴いた事がないという人は、お試しという程度でもぜひ一度聴いてみてはいかがでしょうか。 なお個人的なお勧めは、 3曲目【Desperado】（ノリが好き♪）4曲目【On the Road Again】（とにかく格好いい！！）6曲目【Jolene】（大好き☆） です。 しかし、捨て曲はまったくのゼロです。全曲が最高の仕上がり状態です！！

I Gimmes hanno saputo dar nuova vita a pezzi storici di qualsiasi genere musicale. In questo sesto album rivisitano con nonchalance canzoni country, western ed anni cinquanta di artisti come Johnny Cash e The Eagles. Brani che per similitudine vengono incastrati a riff degli Offspring e dei Clash. Roba più nota per gli amanti del genere. Ne viene fuori un'assonanza così naturale che sembrano fatti apposta. Irriverente e travolgente. Eccezionale.

Love the album if you're a fan of country or punk definitely pick this up. I read a review about this album saying that some of the songs are not very well known. I disagree with that review. I grew up in a household where my parents and sister love country music so I knew all of the songs. I must say I think Jolene is 1 of the best songs on this album. If you are a punk rock fan you need the gimmies in your collection. If you are a country fan buy this album give the gimmies a shot and you will not be disappointed. BUY IT, LISTEN TO IT, LOVE IT!!!
