National Curriculum Mathematics Practice - Year 3
This is one of a new series of books in English and Maths, from Year 1 to Year 6. This particular book is aimed at Year 3 (aged 7-8) and is based on the new National Curriculum. Although the new maths curriculum has changed less than the English curriculum there are many basic differences, which can be easily discovered on the internet. For Year 3 a basic difference is the adding and subtraction of fractions, plus an emphasis on the times tables. However, whatever is included in the new maths curriculum is certainly included in this well laid out and quite large workbook; which represents good value for money and an excellent way of making sure your child will understand all the work covered in Year 3. At 125 pages, this is far thicker than most workbooks and is packed with activities. My only concern about this book is that the answers are not included; which I feel should be available within the book itself, as maths answer books are usually straight forward and do not take up much room. However, you can access them on the website (a ruse to get you to visit?) as well as further information. The book does contain a progress chart and a nice certificate – probably more attractive to younger children in KS1. Good value and helpful to make sure your child is familiar with all the maths work they will be covering in the academic year, as well as giving extra homework and support. There is a similar book available in English for each year group.

Challenging but fun
It is age appropriate and even what she’s learning in class. Great level of challenging. Can be done with support or independently.

Great teaching support
Love this book. Great help for teaching support for my 8 year old year 3 child. I like his thevanswers are not in the book, but I can access online, thus prevents cheating :)

I bought this as an activity book which I sit ...
I bought this as an activity book which I sit and do with my son who is 7, that way I know HOW he is learning at school as I have found that it is very different from the way I was taught and I can do things the same way his teachers do rather then the way I learnt which tends to confuse him.
