INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook

I have currently been studying for the INCOSE exam and this book is the perfect book of knowledge for the task. It is very detailed with examples.

The content is informative and helpful, even if it is dry and verbose. I wish they would have made the book a bit more narrow for ease of reading. It's necessary for INCOSE certs so it doesn't matter much what I don't like. If you're a systems engineer, this is a must-have but not a standalone.

Good quality, has the information.

This book is like a professor giving you the math equations, without giving you an understanding of the logical outcomes that come from using the math equations, or examples of using the math equations to understand the context of using them. This book doesn’t put in the effort to show you what their concepts mean, they expect you to put that effort in yourself, which lowers the value of this book.

This book is very hard to read. It’s wide and the text should be divided into two columns.

At $70, I would expect the product not to be damaged. Also, the content is very dense. Better formatting and larger print would have helped a lot. This is more a reference manual than a study guide. It is not inviting and formatted for information gathering, but information disseminating.

This book is more or less a necessary supplement to the associated ISO/IEEE standards since it describes in fair detail HOW to do the processes and lists best practices. A hardcover version would be preferable, and the paper is pulp fiction quality, but the print is acceptable. I really wish it came with a PDF digital download.

My headline pretty much sums it up. Systems engineering includes operations research, sociology, control theory, dynamic programming, design of experiments, decision theory, and many, many other topics not covered in this tome. It's really not much of a handbook, more of a cookbook. I need it to understand in part why DoD is still using the Vee model that was based on software development in the 1970s - but you should not waste your money. If you want a useful handbook for honest systems engineering, I recommend the INFORMS Analytics Body of Knowledge, or perhaps one of the true systems books such as by Hall, Beude, Gibson, or Ackoff.

Graphs, charts, figures in black and white. Cannot distinguish what represents what on the legends of some figures. Should been printed in Full Colour

Volledig zwart-wit, figuren komen niet goed tot hun recht vergeleken met de digitale versie. Eerder ook al engineering boeken via Amazon gekocht; engineering boeken kan je beter via een ander platform kopen als je betere kwaliteit wilt, want veel platforms verkopen boeken als print-on-demand.

Excelente livro. Recebi antes do prazo estimado.
