could this be used with a similar 3-wire touch-sensor instead of the IR sensor ?

It does have a special plug in socket for the sensor wire so i would say rewire unlikey. I replace mine approx every 2 years when they fail - i run this as the switch for 4 power supplies running led strip lights in the kitchen. The box is on the top of the units and only the sensor is under the cabinet so its quite neat. But they font last in my experience.

how do you connect this to a mains power cable?

Its easy... Wiring & circuit diagrams are supplied and printed on the unit. Sufficient cable length is supplied to sensor to enable control box to be installed in the ceiling / loft and still have sensor comply with 1200mm from ffl Reg. Used instead of pullcords in bathrooms etc.

Will this work with a constant current led driver or must it be constant voltage?

This device just switches mains voltage on or off. You can connect to any type of power supply / driver. They are typically used to switch lights and heating elements on bathroom mirrors. Just be aware the relay contacts can tend to weld or get "sticky" if switching inductive loads.

Hi Richard, this is a 240v contact switch, not a volt free contact switch. If you have a 240v to 12v transformer then it will work perfectly attached to this switch.
