a fantastic find
My husband and I are on our journey of adopting a child - we are at the stage where a wee one may well be with us fairly soon, so I have been looking for books to read to the child to help them understand the basics of having new 'adoptive' parents, a new family, home etc. The child we will hopefully be matched with is very young, only just over 2; it was hard to find any books written for such a young child. There are quite a few books out there, but not for really young children, so I was delighted to find this one. It is fantastic. I am a Nursery School teacher, so I know the sort of books that work for the different ages of children in there pre-school years and this is just right for 2 to 5 years olds. It is a very simple but beautifully told story and is nicely illustrated too. At the back of the book there are some really good and useful guidance notes that help you make the most out of the book to help answer any questions your adopted child may have.

Great fit helping explain adoption
Bought to help explain adoption to our 3yo and 5yo after they gained an adopted cousin. It explains things in a clear and simple way as well as giving ideas for additional discussion topics

Lovely book
Absolutely lovely. I am an adopter and bought this to read to my little ones. Gorgeous book. Would be even better if there was a version for single parents.

A must for for adoptive parents
This is a wonderful book, It really helped us start the process of telling our 3yr old daughter that she is adopted, in a way that she could comprehend. The little booklet at the back was great too, explaining what a child's level of understanding is at certain ages. The great thing about the story is that it's so simple and charming it's easy to embellish it with your journey, making it personal and relevant to your family. I highly recommend it to anyone who has an adopted child, and I imagine it would be very helpful to those wanting to explain the concept of adoption to their birth children.

The Teazles' baby bunny
I bought this book to read to children at work (at a pre-school). It deals very sensitively with the idea of adoption. It is suitable for young children up to 5 or 6, but particularly useful in the 2 to 4 age range. The illustrations are lovely and the first time I read it to the children, I ended up reading it four times.Highly recommended as an introduction to different families or as a lovely story in itself.

The wonderful illustrations and simple text explains adoption in a way ...
I have bought two copies of this book for my own adopted daughter who is 2 and my niece and nephew who are 3 and 5. The wonderful illustrations and simple text explains adoption in a way that is accessible to this age group. The support guide in the back gives adults ideas to discuss in a variety of ways. I would highly recommend this to others seeking a simple introduction to adoption.

What a beautiful book. The story is captivating as it's exactly what most adopted parents have been through themselves on the adoption journey so it's a great aid for talking to young children. It's lovely as it rhymes and easy to talk through. Only comment maybe the quality of the paper/printing. Not sure how durable it will be, but the story and pictures are lovely.
