Maybe a bit much
This is a beautifully crafted bread knife. Sure it cuts as well as any other if not better but it’s just part of my kitchen equipment and other Shun knives and it looks great and is a delight to use. It’s extravagant but it’s also super long lasting and functional. I hate to say it but YES I’d buy it again.

Super sharp, ideal for very soft bread
Very sharp. Great for soft bread and croissants that need to be cut with minimum pressure so they don’t crush or flatten. Just watch fingers and palms of your hands.

Perfect
Kai Shun knives are made by people who clearly care a great deal about knives and have done everything it takes to make a product that's a pure pleasure to use. The only downside - and it's a real one - is that Kai Shun knives make all your other knives seem a bit rubbish. Knives that you may have liked before now just seem like a bit of metal that won't hold a proper edge. One day after buying this I found myself in a nice cookshop that sells Kai Shun, trying out another chef's knife before realising that no, I really couldn't afford it. So purchase with care.
