A very well constructed set
I bought this for my girlfriend for her birthday last month as she is a big Pokémon fan and enjoys creative things. I completely surprised her with it and she loved it - we were both really impressed with the quality of the set and pieces even though it was reasonably difficult to construct (took us a good few hours). Very pleased with the result though and we're looking at the other sets now

Great set for a great price! (£20)
Excellent product, quality of the bricks is close to Lego! One of their bigger sets, some what clear instructions, It helps knowing what gyarados looks like! Very poseable! 5*

Great on display
Loved this. Fun to build and looks great on display. The instructions were complicated and not straightforward, but that adds to the challenge.

Grandson loves this figure for his game
Bought for grandson for Xmas. Paid extra because everywhere else was sold out at the time. Seams a lot of money for what it is. But apparently he is going to love it. Contents of box feels very light.

Something different for Pokemon fans
Bought as a gift for Pokemon-mad son. Good to get something other than cards/tins/plushes, that he can build and have fun with outside of it just being about Pokemon. Great price too (£17.95)

Good, but falls short of Lego quality
My 8 year old and I enjoyed making this - he loves anything Pokemon. It looks good, is a decent size, and is suitably challenging, yet achievable to build. He also got a genuine lego dragon for Christmas and the difference in sturdiness is miles apart. Once built, he can pick up and play with the Lego model. With the Gyrados, you only need to go near the thing and bits fall off it. It's hard to balance to stand up in the pose on the box, and once achieved (after sticking back together again all the bits that came off as you tried to stop it falling over and breaking), it kind of makes him reluctant to play with it. He's asking if we can go down the "Kragle" route (superglue), leaving just the articulated joints free. Talking of the articulated joints... Most are firm enough, but just a couple of them are a bit loose, which mean the model can have an occasional tendency to sag when you've put it in a pose. So, it's a fun build, ticks all the Pokemon boxes, but you get what you pay for and it falls a bit short of Lego standards. But then again, we did kind of guess that would be the case before buying and we bought it anyway. I don't think we'd say we'd never buy this brand again, because they offer models that Lego don't do... But, if we do, we'll do so with slightly lower expectations than if we were buying Lego branded models.

This was my first time building a Mega Construx product. I'm a big kid (30 lol) and I've always loved Legos and Pokemon. I've also always been a 'lego snob', meaning if it's not actual Lego brand then it's probably not good. I've been looking at these for a while and someone recently got me an Amazon gift card, so I decided to pull the trigger. For under $20 you can't go wrong! Honestly a similarly sized Lego is probably $40. There were no quality control issues (no missing/warped pieces, color issues, etc.). The directions were clear with great illustrations and the build was so much fun! It took me about 2.25 hours (having never built a Mega Construx set and not having built any lego/construction bricks type model in few years). I now have it on my desk at work and it looks awesome. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes Pokemon and Lego type sets. I've definitely found a new addiction and will buying more! I would say 8 years old is about the cut off for being able to build on their own, however this would be a fun project for an adult to do with a younger child (probably 6 years old at the youngest).

Jouet assez grand pour un beau rendu. Mon neveu est ravi!

Having recently put together a Pikachu from this line with a faulty head, I was a little nervous going into Gyarados, however, my fears were unfounded. I love him so much and now that he's built Gary G Gyarados has pride of place on my display shelves. Not only is it a nerdy reminder of my childhood, but building it myself makes the figure even cooler. I bought this for my husband's christmas and we built it together. It's a lot easier than the Jumbo Pikachu and can easily be put together over around 3-4 hours and the course of two short sessions (keep in mind this is with two people working leisurely together, which might slow the process down). As always, the instructions are doable, but could be a bit confusing at points where they don't show things well, but overall most people should be able to manage. The more experience you have with these, the easier you'll find it. The only thing that really annoyed me is that the pokeball is just designed to 'rest' on the kit. It's very wobbly and will fall off and get lost. I attached it with a glob of 'white-tac' and it looks like it's part of the design. I recommend you do the same. Gyarados looks awesome and though he has a tendency to overbalance in certain positions (more stretched out), you can rotate all the pieces to create your own cool pose. He's really a great looking figure that's a lot of fun to build!
