Money well spent
The usb input on my blue ray player wouldn't play some things I had on a usb. So I bought this Micca media player and wow it plays everything without fail. Ok, so it's very light but sitting under my smart TV it is doing it's job as it should. Money well spent.

Wow it works
Was having trouble playing MP4 videos from a USB stick plugged into my two year old Samsung TV. Saying file not supported ect. Received this Media player and plugged in the same USB stick into the player and all videos played perfectly at great HD quality. Great product especially with the remote

Clean, simple, works well for casual users
Plays the mp4s with standard codecs, doesn't seem to work for non-standard codecs. All round simple and compact design 4/5

Very small device with a big quality picture
This device is very small but works well. With TF or USB input ports, it gives you flexibility. The picture output quality is excellent (used on 65” TV). The menu is very simple to navigate around. A bug I found with the software is when playing a very large 20 Gb “ts” file; when I pressed fast forward, it actually went in reverse! This did not happen with mp4 files, regardless of size. I have reported this bug to the manufacturer. It’s not a deal breaker but it could be an issue for some. The fast forward/rewind has 10s or 20s advancements(or rewinds) depending on the button pressed on the remote. I found this useful. The remote control works well. The red LED light at the front is quite large, so I use a ‘bye-bye standby’ switch at the mains and only power on when using the device. In conclusion; very little to complain about. It’s a great player which produces a great picture.

Defective device
From the start, the device was glitchy (turning off by itself) but now, only a few weeks after buying it, it won't play at all. Or, more annoyingly, it starts a movie and then (3 min in) leaps to the next movie & next & next... and then turns off. Not worth it!

Works fine
Works fine. Only just got it but first tests look great. Device is quick to respond. Remote a bit flimsy but does the job. I needed this because my "smart" Samsung TV is about seven years old so not smart enough for a lot of basic video files, which stutter. This device reads them fine. Also reads subtitles, whether embeddded or .srt files. The GUI is clear.

Constant Lag and Stuttering with 4K Movies
I bought this media player mainly to play 4K video files via USB for digital signage and home use, but unfortunately it has been a big disappointment. I’ve tried: Different USB drives and microSD cards Multiple 4K MP4 and MKV files Different TVs and HDMI cables The result is always the same: choppy playback and audio out of sync. For 1080p content it’s mostly fine, but if you are buying this specifically for 4K movies, don’t expect smooth performance. The menu and remote also feel slow, which adds to the frustration. Overall, this might work for simple signage or lower-resolution videos, but it does not handle 4K reliably. I wouldn’t recommend this product if 4K playback is important to you.

Beware of HDD Size Limits
I bought this media player hoping to use it as the central hub for my movie and music collection. The setup was easy, the interface is straightforward, and playback quality is decent. It handles most formats without a problem, and the remote is not great but manageable However, the big drawback that it does not support 4TB hard drives or higher . I found this out the hard way after transferring my entire library to a 4TB HDD, only to realize the player wouldn’t recognize it at all. The product description doesn’t make this limitation clear, which is frustrating. If your collection is on a 1TB or 2TB drive, this player will probably work fine for you. But if you’re like me and need larger storage support, you’ll want to look elsewhere.

An excellent device to make my old Full HD 1080p TV smarter. I connected a Silicon Power PC60 portable 1TB SSD, as my media storage device, to the Micca G3 and the two work together seamlessly. Brilliant. I have successfully played the following file types on the Micca G3 with no issues: vob (1GB), avi, wmv, ts, jpg, png, gif, webp, mp3, flac. The Micca G3 was able to play most, but not all, of the MP4 video files from my Windows PC (mainly downloaded from Youtube). For the MP4s that the Micca G3 initially could not play, I used the FILE CONVERSION function in the VLC media player application (free open source) on my PC, with the output profile "Video for MPEG4 1080p TV/device", to convert my MP4 files into a more standard version of MP4. Then they were fine on the Micca G3. The User Manual also contains other options for dealing with unsupported MP4 codecs. Display Resolution: the player can output video in a wide range of resolutions. For best results, configure the player’s Settings > Display Resolution to match the highest quality setting supported by the TV. “Auto” (the default) is recommended when the player is connected using an HDMI cable. Available settings: AUTO, 2160P, 1080P, 720P, 576P, 480P The player handles all my file types and sizes, quick menu response, no buffering. The G3 is a definite improvement on the previous G2 model. NOTE: the Micca G3 comes with a power supply (input 100-240V AC) suitable for use in Australia (output 5.0V DC 2A), but it has a TWO PRONG US style plug, so you will need to order a PLUG ADAPTER (US to Australian) such as the LEESAD travel adaptor for about $9. You will also need batteries for the remote (2 x AAA), and an HDMI cable. Firmware updates for the Micca G3 android operating system and PDF User Manuals are available for download at: https://www.miccatron.com/micca-speck-g3-4k-digital-media-player/ I find that the Micca remote control is very directional – you have to point it directly at the player, or it doesn't register. If you point the remote directly at or below the player, it works fine. But if the remote points slightly to the left, right, or above the player, there is no response. Overall, a very useful, versatile, solid product, and reasonably priced.
