PetSafe Solvit Telescopic Dog Ramp, 99.06 cm - 182.88 cm, Lightweight and Easily Adjustable

I got this ramp because my dog strained some muscles in his back and could no longer jump in and out of the car. Fully extended, it provides a gentle slope up to a 4x4, so is ideal for old or injured dogs. Though light, it's sturdy enough to easily sustain my 150lb Great Dane, and looks like it'll last. The walking surface is the texture of course sandpaper which provides a good non-slip grip, though I haven't yet tried it in the rain. It folds up neatly and is easy to carry/stash. The dog worked out how to use it in a few minutes.NB: V quick delivery - the product arrived two days after I ordered it.

The solvit ramp has lots of positives and a couple of negatives but overall it is a very good ramp and so much better than the plastic folding ramp we had previously. First the positives: It's sturdy, strong and doesn't wobble. It's not too heavy (for me a 40yr old shortish woman) and the telescopic action is smooth. The non slip, sandpaper like coating makes it easy for our Labrador to get a good grip (unlike the plastic model) and it is long enough when fully extended so that the ramp is not too steep for her to get into our car (a Nissan Qashquai). She seems much happier to use it and unlike the slippier plastic ramp, doesn't have to do a run up to get up it!Now the negatives... It's telescopic, so only retracts to half its length (rather than folding) so it is quite long and does take up quite a bit of space. With the dog and dog bed in the boot, there's really not enough space for the ramp to go in there as well (unless I put the single back seat down so I can lay it flat) and this is in an SUV with a decent size boot. In theory I could put it on the back seat (not great once it's muddy) or work out a way to stand it up across the back of the car but I'd need to secure it or it would fall on the dog. The second negative is not a deal breaker but could be improved. The the design is not very intuitive when it comes to extending it as the bit you naturally grab onto is the section that doesn't pull out. Everytime I go to pull it out I have to do an awkward shuffle to move my hands into the right position whilst yelling at the dog not to jump out.In summary, an excellent quality, strong and stable (Teresa May?) ramp but just be aware it is quite big. Maybe check the unextended measurements first.

Absolutely brilliant in speed of delivery, quality and ease of use. It took only a few goes, standing beside a slightly nervous and older retriever wearing a slip-on lead while leading it up the ramp, to get it to walk in and out of the car. It IS a good idea to get the dog used to walking over it while laid out on a floor indoors (bribing with some treats placed along the ramp, where the surface is like glasspaper) and even on a slight incline, such as a door step or even on the stairs - easy to regulate because it's telescopic and does not flex when extended. A friend was so impressed she wanted to buy mine immediately for an imminent journey - a complete success - and ordered a replacement for me, which I shall be taking back to France where it will enable my older and slightly arthritic retriever to get in, and perhaps even more importantly, out of our 4 x 4s without stress or injury to any party.

This ramp arrived very quickly and will be a great aid for our German Shepard and our old girl a Golden retriever. It is very sturdy and not that heavy surprisingly. We use it against a Land Rover Defender which is quite high up off the ground and I would say the angle is fine although I should have perhaps bought the longer one. However, on the first couple of uses our German Shephard was trying to claw his way up and slipped a little but now he's is more confident and goes up without the clawing. I just stand behind him and to the side, just in case he needs a gentle push but this has made getting him in and out of the can so much easier as he is around 38kilo and it hurt him when he was lifted in. This ramp was delivered very promptly and is easy to use, and the fact that it is so light a great advantage. I have to keep it on my back seat as there is not enough room in the boot of my Discovery for it and my two dogs. My 13 year old labrador has taken to using it very easily.I am not sure how long it will last though and it is not cheap, already - in less than a week - a screw has come out and a piece of plastic has come off. The ramp surface has scratched badly, and my dogs claws are regularly trimmed, so I'm hoping this will last too.

When I started looking for a dog ramp I was very concerned I would order something that would wobble and be slippery so that my 25 kg heavy dog would feel anxious about using it. My dog has hip dysplasia and has since quite recently started showing that she does not want to do the jump up into the booth. Ive been keeping her on the back seat instead but that is not really great either as she cant balance very well in there, due to the shape and softness of the seats.Im very pleased to say that I got this product super quick, like 2 days after ordering. And today I thought Id try it out. I started clicker training my dog for walking on the ramp whilst on the ground, by the booth with the booth open. I then added a small plastic box under one end, so she had to walk up the ramp with a soft angle. Then we added the whole hog and my dog happily runs up and down this ramp like it was an A frame on the agility track. And the ramp stays still! And the dog does not slide. I cant recommend this product enough. Yes, it is big, but I wanted it big. If it is too short it would have been too steep. And if you get one that is too narrow it will be wobbly. For us at least, this is perfect!
