An excellent take, every bit as good as its reputation.
Akira is one of the most loved and talked about Manga masterpieces of all time and one I had often thought of reading. My teenage son becoming a Manga fan finally promoted me to get this and I must admit I am very impressed. The story follows events in Neo Tokyo years after the original Tokyo was destroyed in an apocalyptic event as friends Kenada and Tetsuo are drawn into events leading to the heart of what caused it against the backdrop of gang wars and battles with authority. This really is excellent, excellent and thrilling story which gets better with each volume and excellent artwork. Hugely enjoyable.

A manga classic
Akira is an absolute must-read for any fans of anime, manga, sci-fi or graphic novels in general. The first manga I ever read, I was hooked on it from the pages of Manga Mania back in the 90’s and Akira will always be one of my favourite titles, one that I have read and enjoyed several times over the years. Highly recommended

Akira is still amazing
Akira has long been held as an iconic manga series and it is still amazing even today The artwork, the story, the influence it has had over so much since it was published and the sheer energy it possesses mean it really deserves its reputation and I canoot recommend it enough, it is amazing !

A fantastic classic
Mesmerising art and a good read. Crazy story and bizarre characters but brilliant altogether. The book itself is a hefty, glossy-covered book with a few coloured pages to start and then mostly black and white. Although the film shows how good Neo-Tokyo looks in full colour, the quality and detail of the art makes sure this book does not leave you wanting. Bought the first, read it and ordered the other 5 books. Very addictive.

Great book, fair price
Being a huge fan of the books and movie already, my review would be a but biased! Most important thing for large Manga books is that it came in perfect condition; no folds, creases or marks.

Classic 80s manga, where modern stuff began!
I remember seeing Akita on channel 4 (uk tv) waaaaaaay back in something like 1987/8. I remember being utterly blown away that cartoons could be this graphic, and it birthed my fancy Japanese graphic novels and film. In my travels I’ve seen the books, flicked through them from time to time, but never pulled the trigger as it were. Well… I needed something to read whist I recovered from my heart surgery, and why not a blast from my past. If you’ve seen the film, be prepared for a mind flip. It’s completely different. Many characters have been left out and many parts removed entirely. But dear lords and ladies of the aesir and Vanir, it’s AMAZING. I have read many classics. Akita has to be number one,

The story that changed my life.
My best friend and I bonded over Akira back in the early 90's and we've referenced it ever since. Our life defining story.

Excellent, really pleased.
The book itself was much larger than anticipated, I had presumed it would be the regular manga book size. The artwork and style is excellent and there are some slight differences between the movie and the book. Really pleased with the overall quality and price. Will be buying the others!
