This is a great mic!
Great mic! It looks and feels nice in the hand. The build in wind cut feature is so good, you can be standing outside on a windy day and not hear a thing. To hear wind you have to blow into the mic pretty hard. That being said, the sound quality is top notch and it picks up great. The Reporter is an omnidirectional mic, which is great for interviews, especially when you forget to aim your normal cardioid mic toward your subject. It's long enough to put a mic flag on the shaft, since you really don't want to use the goofy and awkward looking top mounted flag that comes with the mic. I use this mic with a Sennheiser SKP 100 G3 plug-on transmitter, and the sound is fantastic. I couldn't be happier with this purchase!

Perfect mic for field interviews!
I've always been a fan of RODE mics and have many of them. I needed to do live video streaming interviews at a trade show and these Reporter mics looked exactly like what I needed. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was quite surprised at the richness and quality of the audio they produce. Very tight pick-up patterns pick up voices beautifully without needing to put a mic in someone's face. Great noise rejection for ambient noise but not too much so that it sounds dead. It's a perfect blend of vocal clarity and pleasant ambience. For the price, we got two of them with no regrets. Love these mics!

Unfortunatly DOA
Too bad. The microphone makes a good impression, but unfortunately it was DOA. We live in Costa Rica and we send all things via freight forwarders, so we have no return option. Almost $ 200 (including freight and import costs) for a defective microphone is too much. By the way, Made in China, not Australia.

Muy bueno
To be a used microphone, it exceeded my expectations a lot, I do not give it 5 stars because it takes up a little more gain to make it sound powerful, I do not know if it is because it is used but it is a perfect microphone.

phantom power so no need for battery but needs to buy a cable
good: no need for battery or recharging requirements. it works via connection by cable. affordable handheld mic, especially refurbished captures sound well. rode bag and reporter attachment is nice con: ambient noise need to buy separate cables to connect maybe need a deadcat but couldn't find one that complements this mic. :(

Great reporter microphone
Excellent for interview. Great reporter microphone for our children reporters. I was worried that how the handle is long and too skinny, but it is actually an advantage because you want something to be able to reach the person you are interviewing. Since it is a omnidirectional mic, when you pull the microphone away from the speaker, it still capture sound at great volume. There is no big drop of sound. It captures nice and clear sound in noisy outdoor environment. Great purchase!

Works Really Well in High Noise Environments
This is a great mic for conferences or events. As the name implies this Mic is great for reporters. We used it on the show floor at CES and you can't hear the crowd. It was actually kind of disconcerting how well it picked up the voices of the personalities, and how little of the conference you heard. The XLR fitting requires a different cable if you are going to plug this in to your DSLR, but if you have a P2 camera, most of those are set up for XLR.

Disappointing performance
Very low sound levels, even with maximum gain on both computer and phone. The volume is nearly impossible to adjust properly. Despite using a pop filter, the mic still pops very easily. Overall, not recommended.

Great mic for it's intended purpose - out on the road interviewing people. Ergonomically friendly and good wind noise suppression - you can happily use outside on a busy street for "street rapportage" style work. I especially like the way that you dont have to swing the mic between people during interviews - just hold it 18 - 24 inches (45 - 60cm) between both parties and let the mics internal magic work to level out the volumes. This is especially good if you are interviewing excited (or excitable!) people - since you wont get the clipping you often see as the mic isn't moved fast enough by the reporter. Paired it up with a TASCAM DR-10X plugged straight into he end and one AAA battery at the start of the day should see you through a full days interviewing.

I'm very impressed with this microphone. This was my first purchase of both a professional standard microphone and a microphone for use in non-studio environments. I wasn't sure as to wheter it would be fit for purpose having seen numerous testing videos, I used it in a convention environment and most testing videos showed it outside on a roof top or somewhere similar, where there was substantial background noise, but quite a distance away. It far out-performed my expectations, not only were my vocals clear but it cut out a lot of the background noise too, the only thing I had to do it post was to split the audio and send it down both channels, this was only because I was using a XLR to 3.5mm jack as my camera only takes 3.5mm audio. XLR records in mono whereas 3.5mm is stereo. But beyond that there was little-to-no post-production required on the audio output by this microphone. I may only use this a few times a year at different expos/conventions I got to, however I'm superbly impressed by its quality and thus would say it is well worth the price.
