Nice to have in a pinch
I picked these up to make a bunch of 6x12in "handy travel stuff" canvas pouches for myself & friends. I always end up accidentally forgetting about my multitool or pocketknife or scissors when I go through airport security, or I forget to bring or end up losing pens or a scarf or my notebook, or I end up having to use a shoelace for a makeshift clothesline when paracord would have been just the thing, or I space out bringing a lighter or a flashlight -- you know, all that stuff that you bring and lose on the trip, or stuff you forget to bring but would have ended up coming in super-handy at one point or the other, or stuff that inconsistent airport security screening will let pass in one country but clamp down on in another for some unknown reason. If I'm not traveling around on vacation or business, it'd be handy stuff to just have in the car. These rods are in the pouches because they came on paracord and had strikers on them. Sure, I'm going to have a lighter in each pouch but better to have a backup that can't leak or easily break apart... throw a little plastic bag with a half-dozen vaseline-drenched cotton balls alongside and you've got something that can start a fire without too much difficulty. It's a rig that you might only need in a pinch, but would be immensely helpful. Perfect for the pouches.

love these
I keep one of these in my personal kit and use it instead of matches on the regular. I also teach fire skills to adults and children and I keep a dozen or so of these to sell to workshop participants at cost

Works as it should.
The cordage wasn't much - about 3ft of extra cordage so I wouldn't say it's a great kit but I bought these specifically for the ferro rods which are exactly what I expected.

It works
It's as described and work like it should. Great for building multiple survival packs or just have a few in different spots.
