I bought these as a gift for my arty mum - it is not obvious from the packaging or description, but if you use these pens on wet media, the colours that constitute the black are separated chromatographically, and you get lovely bleeding blue/green and pink/purple.

Great, they colours spread beautifully. I saw someone else give a bad report on this and I wondered if it's because she didn't know they were to be used differently to other pens? Once you know they are used first and then blended with water and a paint brush, all becomes clear :)

Let's make this clear - don't buy these pens hoping to use them as-is for writing, as they are terrible when you try. They're not pleasant to write with, and can be scratchy to use - I cut the tip of one to make it a chisel nib, which made it a little better, but not by much. No, the reason you want these pens is because of the ink they use. Normally, it would be nothing special, but adding water separates it into beautiful blues, greens, and purples, meaning you can get really beautiful effects with ink and wash pieces. You can scribble the pen onto plastic, metal etc and add water, but you'll get better effects if you apply the pen straight to the paper and then brush with water afterwards. The effects can be pretty unpredictable, but are always beautiful. High recommended as an art tool, but not as a writing implement.

I have not used these to their full potential yet. Saw them on a TV craft channel where the present used them as an ink for artist work. I have bought them to do this and also calligraphy. Not used them much yet but please with the results so far.

Love these pens with water soluble ink - it changes colour when you add a little water to it - purples and blues. Great for arty projects.

Possibly just a bad batch, but 3 of my pens were practically dried out. I didn't bother to send them back because it wasn't worth it. I think if they had been full of ink they would be really great pens. The 4th one worked beautifully, and because they aren't waterproof you can get great effects using watercolours with them.

Great to use on holiday as one only needs this ,a brush, pad of good cartridge paper and a bottle of water to produce interesting line and wash paintings

I used it for art classes. It's just too expensive. More students would want to get it but can't afford it.

Diese Stifte sind wirklich was Besonderes. Dass der Preis alle paar Tage wechselt, ist etwas seltsam. Ich habe sie noch für 12,29 im Oktober gekauft, inzwischen wurden sie immer teurer. Ich kenne allerdings nichts Vergleichbares, was die Farbeffekte betrifft, wenn man die Stifte mit Wasser anlöst. Das funktioniert am besten auf grundiertem, also nicht saugendem Papier. Die Farbe explodiert förmlich unter dem Wasserpinsel in grünlich bis zart lilafarben. Kontrollieren kann man das erst mit recht viel Erfahrung, ansonsten muss man sich einfach überraschen lassen, was ja auch Spaß macht. Ich habe die Stifte gleich dreimal bestellt und bin jetzt angesichts der Preissteigerung von 25% ganz froh darüber. In vielen Rezensionen wird berichtet, dass die Stifte zum Teil eingetrocknet ankamen. Das kann ich nicht bestätigen. Meine waren alle korrekt aktiv und mit guten, festen Spitzen, die man sicherlich auch für Kalligraphie gut gebrauchen kann.

Love these pens for the unusual colors that develop when touched with water. a quality art pen so fun to work with, very versatile. Comes in several thicknesses so you don't have to buy them one at a time, so a good value. The lines are smooth flowing and don't smudge, but they are water soluble.
