Amazing!
Our son was bought this for Christmas and it is absolutely amazing! Everything about it is great, the silver pen, the components, the activities in the book, the explanations behind the activities. I love that the user is guided through the activities step by step, each one adding extra complexity and interest and all explained in a way that let's the user really understand what is happening in the circuit. If only all schools had these, it would revolutionise physics teaching. Any science teachers reading this, please buy to show your students, it turns electronics into art! I would highly recommend this.

Does not work
It just doesn't work. I am a teacher and bought this to help my pupils learn electronics but none of the circuits I draw work. I am following the booklet that comes with it and only the first page works.

Great little starter kit
Great little starter kit bought for my 8 year old son. He enjoyed playing with it and was able to follow all the instructions and get the circuits right. It only took an afternoon to do it all though. I wish we had more suggestions what further can be done with it.

interesting but expensive
I can see how this might appeal but it still seems prohibitively expensive compared with breadboard which - let's be honest is not that much more difficult to use. Plus can be reused again and again. For ever more complicated projects

Arrived with a flat/broken battery
Came with flat/expired battery with terminals on battery broken. Kids are sad as they were waiting anxiously for the item. Will buy an additional battery tomorrow to see if it works. If not, then I’m returning it.

Garbage
I can't express how disappointed I am with this, watching my kids try it and never getting the pen to work was so discouraging. Two adults nor my nine or eleven year old could get the pen to draw. They hated it, they never got to learn anything about electronics this way. This product needs a marker like pen, something like a paint marker but it comes with a ball point pen, hardly the instrument you need for traces longer than an inch.

Watch a 10yo use this. It is so great.
These kits are amazing. I have purchased several for myself and for kids. They are so much fun and bring electronics concepts into a playful and fun learning experience. Here is a video one of the kids I mentor in electronics (he is 10 years old here) who used Circuit Scribe for the first time to make his very first circuit ever...we have since moved on to full robotic cars with custom circuit boards. I credit Circuit Scribe for part of his engament and early excitement in the subject.[...]

Would be super cool if it worked.
The concept is so cool, but all in all it was just frustrating. We had to shake the pen every two seconds and even then it wouldn’t always draw. That would have still been ok, but once we got the lines all drawn and everything ready… it wouldn’t work. We tested all the do dads by connecting them with aluminum foil so I know the problem was with the ink conductivity. This was a present for my son’s birthday so it was pretty disappointing when it didn’t work. We had fun using the foil, but the cool part was using the pen to connect the components and that was a bust.I’m giving two stars for the idea itself and because we did find a way to play with it some.

Confusing instructions drag this rating down!!!
My biggest problem with this kit is its lack of any real instructions for use. It covers the basics of what is in the kit, but has no instructions on how to use the components, at least not any meaningful instructions. Also, the sheet that it comes with is really for the more complete kit, and not the basic one. Consequently, it shows using components that are not in the kit. I love the concept, particularly for teaching, but the reality is confusing and incomplete. Please post a more complete instructions and information about the basic kit alone as well as one for the more complete kit.
