Product description What Is Face-down Recovery After Retinal Surgery? After some types of retinal surgery, you will need to keep your head in a face-down position. This is because a gas bubble has been put in your eye. Recovering with your head down allows the bubble to float into the correct position. The bubble holds the retina in place to heal correctly. Your doctor will tell you how long you need to stay face down. It could be anywhere from a few days to a week or more. Over time, your eye fills with its own fluid, and the gas bubble disappears. You must stay face down at all times, unless your eye surgeon tells you otherwise. This means staying face down when you stand, sit, eat, walk, and sleep. To stay safe, have someone with you when you walk around. Your surgery may not work if you do not recover in the recommended position. This is because lying in the wrong position puts pressure on other parts of your eye. That can lead to other eye problems. You cannot fly in an airplane, go to mountains/high altitudes or scuba dive until the gas bubble is gone. Altitude changes can cause your eye pressure to rise. That can lead to problems with the bubble.

It clicks into different heights/angles and once it collapses at a height it will no longer work or be able to be reset back into that height. I tried it at my perfect angle and it collapsed so I couldn’t use that distance anymore so I went to one click above what was comfortable because it wasn’t my ideal height but not too bad and it collapsed within minutes so that height wasn’t an option anymore either. I decided to accept defeat and will be returning it.

**Q: can a mirror be used with this?**
A: Yes! My brother uses a mirror. The only problem was the button on the leg part that wasn't working right. He had to use a pair of pliers. He said it was comfortable.

**Q: Is this down filled?**
A: No I do not believe so.

**Q: Soooo how do you clean it?**
A: The pillow part can slide off of the stand. I actually draped mine with a pillow case around the opening because I wasn't sure what condition it would be in if I put it in the washer machine. So I actually never washed mine.  I also covered it because it is covered with a velvety type material that made me warm.

This Face Down Pillow used for Eye Surgery Recovery worked. The pillow is comfortable and I liked it while I was able to use it but unfortunately it isn’t strong enough to hold up a persons head. It clicks into different heights/angles and once it collapses at a height it will no longer work or be able to be reset back into that height. I tried it at my perfect angle and it collapsed so I couldn’t use that distance anymore so I went to one click above what was comfortable because it wasn’t my ideal height but not too bad and it collapsed within minutes so that height wasn’t an option anymore either.
