The Haynes Manual is one of publishing s most famous and enduring icons. More than 200 million copies have been sold, covering everything from Austin Allegros to Zombie Survival. Now Haynes is sending itself up in a fabulously amusing and brilliantly-observed new format. Haynes Explains are compact guides to four major stages of life: babies, teenagers, marriage and pensioners. Based on the classic stripdown and rebuild outline, and using original Haynes lines drawings, these books are perfect gifts or stocking fillers. Nine months is also the time it takes to reach Mars from Earth. There will be occasions when a ticket to the Red Planet will seem a pretty decent swap. The aim of Haynes Explains Babies is to help you get the best value from your new offspring. It can help you (a) decide what work must be done (b) tackle this work yourself, though you may choose to have much of it performed by external contractors such as a grandparent, a nanny, or That Woman Down The Road Who Only Charges A Fiver An Hour. Sections include: Assembly & Production (pregnancy & birth). Fuel (feeding). When your baby has drunk enough, he may well pass out on the bar, still in situ. This is excellent practice for his university years. Emission Control Systems (wind). Transportation Methods (seats, slings & strollers). When your baby starts to misbehave, you can use a playpen. Playpens are nice and safe. When your baby s calmed down, you can climb out again. Pit Stops (nappy changing). Routine Maintenance (illnesses & vaccinations). Parents may also voluntarily inject themselves with small doses of something harmful. In their case, it s called Botox.

De stress for Dad`s to be
Dad to be loved this. Baby talk in his language. Kept reading out the jokes to everyone, went from fearful stress to falling about laughing. Very good tonic.

Hilarious and surprisingly relatable
This book is genuinely funnyโespecially if youโre a new (or sleep-deprived) parent.Itโs written like a classic Haynes manual, with diagrams, โfault finding,โ and step-by-step guides.Covers everything from โassemblyโ to โmaintenanceโ in a clever, tongue-in-cheek way.Short, easy to dip in and out of, and guaranteed to get a few laughs.Makes a brilliant gift for new parents or baby showers.

Great fun
I ordered this book as a โfunโ contribution for a forthcoming baby shower, I am familiar with the car repair book so was really pleased when the book arrived and the layout of images and wording was the same.A great little gift that should amuse the awaiting parents, it made me smile ! Recommend

Joke book
Amazing fully trusted good feel to it. Looks good and does its job well

Mediocre and not worth it really
Standing at around 20 pages, it really comes across as a pamphlet of yet again more toxic trash.Pointless references and very little actual information that helps. If it's supposed to be a gag present then label it as such.I will be returning it.

Very funny!
This book made a great baby shower gift for a car enthusiast! His wife informed us it is the only baby book she could get him to read.

Cute gift for a parent to be or new parent
Bought this for my brother as he and his wife just had a son. It's their first child and my brother is a "manly" man, so to speak, so i knew this would be just perfect. He got a kick out of reading it. It's alot of tongue-in-cheek humor, and makes for a great gift. It's small, not like the regular manuals that you get, so keep that in mind. It's hard-covered and feels more like a children's storybook than a gloss manual. Still cute and funny.

Great funny gift for anyone with kids who works on cars! We were cracking up reading this!

Hilarious!
This was so cute, I gave it as a gift for expecting parents and they absolutely loved it! A humorous take on the many common problems new parents will face. Remember, this is a novelty gift and not a real manual! Read through it myself and it is hilarious, full of puns and wordplay, this book will have you giggling from the first page.
