Canton DM 75 Soundbar - Virtual Surround System 2.1 - Black Glass

Looking for a soundbar that we could tuck under the TV resulted in us buying the Canton DM75 as it had been well reviewed elsewhere. We are well pleased with the difference it has made. Our Samsung TV is great on pictures but the sound lets it down.You know the Canton is there, Its wider than our TV! After reading the manual set up was easy (once we had access to the back of our Virgin box, TV and Blueray player). Immediately the sound is far more detailed, the bass has punch (but not boomy), vocals are clear (it really is the actors that mumble their lines), and music is nicely presented. The remote is simple to use.Sound quality - 5 stars; the quality of the drivers used is apparentValue for money - It is a bit pricey, hence 4 stars not 5. It is quite competitively priced to similar soundbars of this quality.Amazon asked us to rate for 'Sheerness'. What the hell is, 'Sheerness'? No explanation on the web page so I had to look it up elsewhere. Sheer could mean how thin something is. If this is what Amazon want then this is rather subjective. For the purpose of the Amazon rating I am going to interpret this as the height from the top surface to surface the Canton stands on. We are prepared to accept the Canton's 'sheerness' as the design requires this to house the speakers, so 5 is the score from us.

Could not get the unit to work....until I realised that you have to tum the units volume control way past 15 (99max). By which time I had already booked a return!Only a day in and getting used to it. Great clear sound after playing with the bass and treble.

Sound quality is a little wooly too much base, charity of the sound is a bit muffled. In surround mode voice is reduced and very much put into the background. However the major problem with Canton is that after 3 years of use it completely failed with fait whistling noise and burning smell coming from the back of the unit (power supply / control / amp). The green LED was still on but no remote response. Contacted Canton support on 01279 822800 for help and they informed me that if the unit is still under 2 year warranty then they would send it to Canton repair centre, if it is outside then I need to contact Servicecare Support Services Ltd in Manchester. I have been quoted almost £200 for a repair and as you can now get better sounding units almost the same price makes it beyond economic repair.

Excellent upgrade from my previous Sonos setup (playbar, sub, and play 1's). The sound is more intelligent, so you find you're not having to turn the sound up or down depending what's going on on the tv. Good integration with TV for remote control, and a really good form factor. Looks much more integrated and tidy than a soundbar that sits in front of the tv.Still keep a Play5 in the room for music, but much happier having a dedicated solution for TV sound.

Good quality, great sound quality. Seems louder when there’s music playing, which can be a little annoying

Being slightly hard of hearing, thought this system would be an improvement on my existing Panasonic sound bar.To be honest, feel a bit disappointed, as there seems little improvement, considering it was twice the price and does not have the features of the sound bar,Feel the bass is too boomy even with it turned down to max and treble turned up to max.A couple of times the remote locked out and had to reboot, to get it to work.There is no denying the quality and delivery. 5 stars.

Great sound

easy to set up and not a bad sound tho still not what i'm looking for.
