Great upgrade on my Strike Pro kit
Most edrummers know that the one main downside with the otherwise fantastic Alesis Strike Pro kit is the hi-hat. To be fair, Alesis has been diligent about quickly implementing fixes for complaints about it. However, IMO playability is still not quite right even with the new spring. Decided to take the leap and try the VH-11 with the Strike module. While I feel I didn't HAVE to (the Strike hat plays acceptably now), I'm very glad I did. It took a little adjusting of the trigger settings in the module, but I think the VH-11 has better sensitivity and easier to control dynamics. Build quality feels higher also. Feel of the sticks on the hi-hat is harder and more like a real metal hi-hat. It is a little louder compared to the Strike though, for those concerned about noise. Overall, a great upgrade.

Used won’t last long
Quit working after 1 year. Very expensive. Wish would have last longer than that. Will buy a new one next time.

great product
I replaced a cy-5 with this. It feels more like a real high hat. I bought mine used and had always thought it was quieter and not as sensitive as the cy-5. I finally took it apart and found the piezo was just bouncing around in there. now that the piezo is properly fixed to the base. I really like this HH. it is build to take some abuse and it gets it. for an E HH It is pretty close to my new beats.

Better feel than CY 5
Feels more like an acoustic hi hat and has a better stick bounce than the CY 5. It is more stuff to move though.

Easy to set up - works right out of the box!
This VH-11 came new in the Roland VH-11 box and had all the parts and wires to work the first try ... very easy to set up on my hi hat stand and works perfectly with my Alesis Strike Pro drum module... actually much better than the Alesis hi hat - which of course is why I got it. I'm using it with a TAMA two-legged hi hat stand and it is very stable.

Good, feels heavy/solid when striking though
While I like the VH-11, it's a bit expensive for what you get. Feels heavy and tends to rotate more than I'd like (thought wrapping the cable around the base has mostly halted this). Registers shoulder and tip strikes consistently. I've gotten used to the firm feel of playing it, but if there were more options - it probably wouldn't be my first choice. Alas - there were three options when I purchased this: the base two-zone, the VH-11, and VH-12. I upgraded from the base (good call there, that one was trash) and have been happy with the VH-11. My main complaint is getting the trigger/cymbal to the right positions such that I never hear a "click" from the open/close sensor. If I'm playing something that requires a lot of fully-open, fully closed hi-hat, I get a lot of audible "clicking" from the open/close sensor which can be distracting. I've adjusted things as much as I can to minimize it - but it always bugs me. If I were buying today, I'd certainly test the 12/13 to see how they've improved over time.

VH-11 first impressions
It seems to me that one day I will love the VH-11. But not yet. My expectations on the product were exaggerated, I assume. I haven't yet learned how to get the maximum out of it. Anyway, it's a Roland pure breed product and I would recommend it to any serious drummer.

Great hihats
These hihats are incredible sound so realistic. And calibration on my TD 17 kv was a breeze, works really well with the roland hihat stand i bought off of here as well.

Excelente plato
Muy buen plato, la respuesta es muy buena, solo hay que ponerle bien la calibración y con eso queda al 100

Amazing cymbal. It is indeed heavy
Amazing cymbal. It is indeed heavy, as the reviews say. I have the Tama HH-605 (which is also amazing) and handles this cymbal just fine. Now to upgrade my KD-8 kick pad...
