Review: Great for kids to make their own markers. - When I say 'I love it', I mean 'I love it because it kept the kids occupied for a morning'. This is basically a kit that allows you to make your own marker pens. It came with English instructions and also a colour chart telling you the quantities of primary colour ink you need to mix to obtain certain colours. This is done by using two measuring cylinders that conveniently stand up inside part of the lid (And form a tray for collecting mess!). Once this has been done, use the supplied tweezers to put the 'core' into the ink and wait for it to absorb it. Once this has done, the pen is stood up inside the plastic base and a handle used to pop the nib and lid on. And then you have labels you can use to complete the job. The result is a proper marker pen that worked fine. I must admit I dreaded the kids using this, but surprisingly they understood what to do by reading the instructions and managed to get a set of 8 pens created of different colour without much mess. I'm not sure how much replacement inks will be, but initial thoughts are that this is a good toy for the kids and they can use the results to draw them own pictures, which seemed to give them a lot of satisfaction!
Review: Great fun. Beautiful colours - Did this with my 8 and 5 year old. It's really two sets of 8 pens so works really well to do with two children. The machine has space to store all the pieces but we made them all in one sitting and the machine becomes redundant after that, unless you order more refills. Really the machine is only used to click the base on but it does add to the fun as it makes it more like a "pen factory". We used the colour card initially then just invented our own mixtures and they ended up with a set of pens each in nice colours. A fun activity and you end up with a nice set of pens.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I need more than 2 of these. I have many nephews and nieces but I can only purchase 2 at max. I will like to buy more??**
A: They are on sale at Wal Mart for $13 plus change right now.

**Q: Can you refill the marker tubes more then once?**
A: My answer is "YES!" Today we decided to try "recharging" our dried up sets of Crayola Mini Stampers. These have marker barrels just like the ones in the marker maker. I used a rubber grip mat (the kind you used to open jars) and pair of pliers and was able to remove the end caps of the markers without any trouble. Then, we removed the cores and proceeded to follow all of the Marker Maker steps to refill the used core. Some of our colors aren't exactly what they were originally, but they were dried up anyway, so at least now they are usable. The Mini Stamper sets were always a little on the expensive side, so now I'm loving our Marker Maker more than ever! I had 6 different sets of Mini Stampers--Pets, Space, 101 Dalmatians, and other assorted shapes. Many of them were dried up. Now, they're ready for stamping! ***Another use for leftover ink is watercolor painting!*** We have the Marker Maker and a refill set, and they both come with the same size bottles of ink. The Marker Maker had 16 markers, and the refills have 12, so I think we'll always have a little extra ink.

**Q: The nib does not fit into the narrow end of the marker barrel! Any advice? Grrr**
A: Here is my best answer your not suppose to fit it all the way in after you put the marker in the machine and the end cap goes on the bottom of the marker you are suppose to close the lever over the marker end it will snap twice once to snap the bottom cap and then it snaps again to click the tip in. Hope this helps you will hear 2 clicks when you push the handle down.

**Q: Is it washable?**
A: The packaging says it is washable. As with anything else, I'd try it on a few test surfaces before I fully trusted it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Keeps them busy

My daughter really enjoyed this toy, once she was shown how to make one marker she was able to make plenty more. It can be a bit difficult for a child to put the base onto the pen but mommy was on hand :) Overall I thought it was great for her to learn about how different levels of colours make the different shades of pens. I would take note to not to completely follow the index card of colours as we didn't find it entirely accurate. I would buy more bottles of ink and refills for this product as the kids loved it. Another bonus is that it is very easily to clean away and the inks are washable
