Give this amp a few hours and the tubes come to life. Impressed for the money.

Really good, powerful amplifier for medium to high impedence headphones. I might sell my Cayin HA-3A as the sound difference is negligible once you upgrade the stock tubes.Be aware you cannot run planar headphones and any low sensitivity headphone with this: it will clip and sound distorted and that is the norm with OTL tube amps, not just a problem of this one.

There's no mention of this product coming from China on amazon's web page. I thought the long delivery date was due to them taking pre orders of a new product, as it now comes with balanced inputs as well as unbalanced.The product was faulty on arrival and the UK store behind this want me to pay for recorded delivery back to China so they can inspect it there. I want a replacement or refund, as per UK law and Amazon policy. For three weeks they've had over £300 of my money and all I've received is an unusable amp. Now they want me to make an hour round trip to the nearest post office and fork out for recorded delivery to China. This will cost an absolute fortune for a heavy headphone amp and I simply can't afford it.I may just be unlucky with the faulty amp, but the company selling this product are trying to side step UK law and aviod dealing with their rejects.

I was disappointed with this amp. Ok, I was comparing it to an amp costing over ten times as much, but there are some rave reviews on this website and on youtube, so it is probable that not all Xduoo TA-26s' sound sub par.One issue is my amp emitted a mid high mechanical hum - which can be normal with tube amps apparently, this was only an issue with me because I use open backed headphones ( because they sound better than closed backed models, all being equal ) in a desk top system - if you are sitting, say 6 feet from the amp you will probably not hear this hum. I stress, the amps sound does not have artifacts that are audible - when there is no signal the amp is silent.A respected online reviewer said this amp was a great partner for the Sennheiser hd 800s, and this is the headphone I used: I found the amp to sound a bit harsh in the middle / high frequencies , with imaging which was diffuse.I do wonder if I was unlucky - were the tubes on my amp the cause of the sound issue? - I think there is a small chance that some tubes will not sound as good as the same make usually does.I did give the amp some hours audition and things did not seem to improve at all.Because I had two issues I did not seek to get a replacement as I consider it to be too risky to expect BOTH issues to be resolved.I hear that changing the tubes to other models can improve the sound so it is a shame I didn't have the time to experiment.Anyway don't let my experience put potential buyers off - there are too many positive reviews to lead me to believe that this is a less than excellent product.Amazon let me return my amp and I should receive a refund soon, so great customer service as usual, thanks.
