Owl City releases their new Full-Length Album OCEAN EYES which is produced and recorded by Adam Young and mixed by John Goodman son (Death Cab for Cutie, Nada Surf, Hot Hot Heat), the 12-song album will follow-up the bands' critically acclaimed 2008 release, MAYBE I'm DREAMING. In the state of Minnesota lies a small town called Owatonna with roughly twentytwo thousand inhabitants. Within that city is a quiet road with a modest house. In that house there's an unkempt basement with no windows. Within those confines you'll find Adam Young of Owl City hard at work on his electronic and melodically infectious music of simple and singular beauty. Inside this "cave," as Adam likes to describe it, he has begun to quickly win over a large audience thirsty for something genuine, something sublime. Being an only child in a small town, and having no musicians in his immediate family, Adam is hard pressed to say how it all started. Explaining that he always had a "push" to be creative, Adam picked up his first guitar in junior high school. Growing up in a "sheltered bubble" and being one of the more shy kids around the neighborhood, Adam seemed compelled to lend his time and creative ideas to music. "I've always been the shy guy, I don't see that changing, but I definitely feel a lot more comfortable than I anticipated. I can hide behind the music." While his music continues to win followers all over the world, Adam does indeed hide behind his music, not going by his real name (See: Badly Drawn Boy and Dashboard Confessional); but going by the moniker Owl City. Adam was searching more for a mood when coming up with a title for his sound, rather than something easily identifiable. He goes on to explain that most of the artists that catch his eye have something unique about their name, something that lingers. So one has to ask: how did this Owl City phenomenon begin? How does a young artist writing songs underneath his garage, acoustic foam and books everywhere, reach an audience of millions? "I'm still trying to figure it out," Adam laughs. "Back in June of 2007 it kind of started on a whim. My parents were away for the weekend, and wanting to be loud and make some noise and whatever, I began writing versions of what became my first, self released digital EP - Of June. I put it up on MySpace the following month and didn't tell anyone." Word of mouth began to spread for Adam's music, with demands coming from various parts of the country for an album. Maybe I'm Dreaming, released digitally in March of 2008, was Owl City's full-length debut. The album has garnered great critical praise and is a clear representation of Owl City's progression as an artist. Adam has become a phenomenon on MySpace with more than 7 million profile views and 40 million plays, which is outstanding in such a short span of time. It's clear that Owl City is making a colossal impact on the music scene. As listeners on MySpace climb into the tens of millions, Owl City gets set to release his latest creation, Ocean Eyes. Loaded with amazing loops, catchy pickups, and lyrics that soothe the mind and touch the heart, Adam Young has once again created a lush listening experience. Owl City's trademark desire to escape in dreams, oceans and sky abound on this, his first official CD, in songs such as "Cave In" and "Umbrella Beach." Adam also continues to display a terrific wit uncommon in most electronic based music in such songs as the clap infused, bouncy "Dental Care" (a humorous metaphor on smiling) and "Fireflies." Given the official compact disc treatment, previously released fan favorite "Hello Seattle" gives the great Northwest its' due with an ode to highlands, parking lots, Puget Sound and albatross. With glorious vocal harmonies ("The Saltwater Room") and touching odes to love lost ("Vanilla Twilight") Adam has dug more deeply on Ocean Eyes lyrically and musically than ever. Review: Oceans Eyes CD album review - I've always been a fan of Owl City and was excited to finally get Ocean Eyes Deluxe on CD. My top 3 favorite songs were Tip of the Iceberg, Hello Seattle, and of course Fireflies (who could forget?) I think my 3 least favorite songs on the album were probably The Saltwater Room, Sunburn, and Umbrella Beach. Ocean Eyes Deluxe Version: Disc one 1. Cave In: 6/10. I actually do like this song but it wasn't in my top 3. 2. The Bird and the Worm: 7/10. Another good one that you can dance and sing along to but not in my top 3 either. 3. Hello Seattle: 10/10. A great classic song by Owl City that makes me want to go to Seattle! 4. Umbrella Beach: 5/10. Umbrella Beach is an okay song but easy to forget compared to other songs on the album. 5. The Saltwater Room: 4/10. This is my least favorite track on the album, it feels slow and long and drags out a bit too much. I do like the lyrics though. 6. Dental Care: 6/10. If I did a top 5 songs from Ocean Eyes I probably would've put Dental Care on it, it's just such a fun upbeat song that makes me smile! 7. Meteor Shower: 9/10. I absolutely adore this song and almost put it in my top 3. Such powerful music! 8. On The Wing: 6/10. This song is a bit too long for my liking but I do like the melody. 9. Fireflies: 10/10. So nostalgic and awesome to listen to, clever lyrics and memorable synths that will be in my memory forever! 10. Tip of the Iceberg: 10/10. This is my favorite song on the album by far both lyrics wise and music wise. Such a delight to listen too and I never get tired of hearing it! 11. Vanilla Twilight: 8/10. A great track but a bit too slow on the buildup. 12. Tidal Wave: 7/10. Sometimes I forget about Tidal Wave but it's okay to listen to. Disc two 1. Hot Air Balloon: 8/10. Love this song! The lyrics on this track are so creative and inspire adventure. 2. Butterfly Wings: 5/10. An easy to forget song but not bad. 3. Rugs from Me to You: 6/10. I find the lyrics for this track a bit silly and hilarious but enjoyable at the same time. 4. Sunburn: 5/10. Personally I didn't like this song and thought it was a bit bland but that's just my opinion. 5. Hello Seattle - Remix: 7/10. Wish this song had words as its a Remix of its original version but the piano in it sounds beautiful. 6. If My Heart was a House: 8/10. A sweet, beautiful song that has wonderful lyrics and melodies. 7. Strawberry Avalanche: 7/10. Again, not one of my favorites but still okay. In the end I will always love Owl City and his music no matter what! Review: One of my favorite albums - Pure Brilliance - Like many people, I first found out about Owl City after Fireflies, the first single from this album, was released in 2009. After hearing how different of a song it was, I made sure to look up Ocean Eyes, and listen to the album. Every song is in its own little universe, and you cannot help but feel completely elated whilst listening to it. I owned the album for months and never got sick of it, and now that the deluxe edition has been released, it has breathed even more fresh air into what is one of the best albums of 2009, in my opinion. For the deluxe, there are 6 new songs, including a Hello Seattle remix which takes my breath away. Hot Air Balloon - My favorite new song on the extra disc. It instantly starts out the collection of new songs with an entirely positive energy and uplifting lyrics, which are bound to pull you from a depressing mood and get you dancing. 10/10 Butterfly Wings - While a lot of the songs from Ocean Eyes sound more "produced" than Adam Young's older works (such as his EP, Of June), this song leans more towards his older songs then anything else. However, it still retains that classic happy-go-lucky mood and is a welcome edition to the newer songs. 7/10 Rugs From Me To You - Even though this song only clocks in at 1:28, it impressed me from the very first second. In fact, it was a bit shocking how different it sounded from the other songs, and in a good way. A very welcome change that gives more diversity to the album if you ask me. 9/10 Sunburn - Nice chill song, perfect for summer. I can't wait to play this song (as well as the entire deluxe edition album) at the beach, exercising outside, exc. Also, this song was on the soundtrack for 90210. 8/10 Hello Seattle (Remix) - Surprisingly, my favorite from the 7 songs, and one of my favorites from the entire Ocean Eyes album. Even though the song is just a remix of the classic Owl City song, Hello Seattle, the entire production is just magnificent. As someone who doesn't normally like remixes and thinks they sound too similar, this remix sets such a electronic tone that I still have it on constant repeat. The beginning starts off nice and slow with a piano rendition of the song, then progresses slowly into a more upbeat melody, then finally topping off the song with electronic and dance beats that would make anyone want to dance or jam out. My one problem with it, is that it is mostly just the beat, and no words besides about five chants of Hello Seattle from the original song. 10/10 If My Heart Was a House - A slower jam from the album, but still great of course. The lyrics definitely are more traditional then the rest of the songs, but still make for a romantic song that I pleasantly enjoy. 8/10 Strawberry Avalanche - Definitely a favorite from the album, for sure. The upbeat tone is back, and makes me float away into a sea of strawberries. Definite summer song, and makes me excited for strawberries in the summer. Love it! 10/10 Overall, the original album by itself was incredible, but the deluxe edition's 7 songs definitely hold their own up to the first 12 sounds. Sometimes these deluxe editions give you 1 or 2 subpar songs that are just being released to make money, but not with Owl City! For anyone who desperately needs a break from the overall negative tone of music being put out there these days, but still want a nice beat that will make them want to dance and sing, Ocean Eyes is the album for them. In fact, it's an album for anyone really. We all need some positivity in our lives, and listening to Owl City will for sure put you into such a happy, on top of the world mood. Perfect for kids and adults, I'm so happy that music like this is finally getting exposure to Top 40 radio and music in general. Go Owl City!

An Absolute Classic From My Childhood
When I was a kid my friend let me use her Ocean Eyes CD to put music on my new iPod I had gotten for Christmas that year. This was the first album I put on that iPod and I listened to it over and over. Fast forward almost 20 years and I'm getting into vinyl and higher quality audio, I see this is offered for sale on Amazon and I have to buy it. The record itself is beautiful with a blue record and a white record disk. The album art is magnificent and it's great to see it blown up to full album size. The songs are iconic including Fireflies and Vanilla Twilight, I could listen to this album and never get tired of it.

Awesome vinyl but weird experience
I love this vinyl!! The colors of the vinyls are so fun and the overall album is great. I did have a very weird experience though. When I first got this vinyl I had a suitcase record player. This vinyl, specifically the song Hello Seattle, sounded horrible on it. Some notes would go flat and some of the techno sounds just were grating. I was so sad but decided to keep the vinyl anyways because I’d been wanting it so much. About a year later my husband and I upgraded our player. It now is a nicer tabletop player with quality speakers, and an audio technica cartidge. The vinyl sounds AMAZING. I almost cried. We’ve now played the vinyl on both players back to back and the difference is crazy. Moral of the story, if you get this vinyl and it sounds weird, try it on a different player.

Excellent chilled out music with thoughtful lyrics
Having heard 'Fireflies' on the radio and subsequently looking up the artist online I found myself drawn to the soft melodies and uplifting lyrics that make this latest collection from Owl City so delightful. So I bought the album hoping for more of the same and I certainly wasn't dissapointed when it arrived. All tracks from start to finish are a delight to listen to and put me in mind of lazy summer afternoons and a sort of childhood innocence. Favourite songs include 'Vanilla Twilight', 'Saltwater room', 'Fireflies' and 'Meteor shower', the latter of which is a subtle but powerful worship song. The duet in 'Salt water room' is beautiful- the female voice is a perfect match for Adam's vocals. Since the main disk has been in the player so much I just haven't got round to listening to the bonus disk although I have heard tracks 1 and 7 from it via the website and instantly liked those so I'm certain the rest will be a great listen as well. So all in all this album is amazing- if you like 'fireflies' then you'll love this entire album although you can always preview the songs via the Owl City website which plays several tracks on a continous loop. Personally I'm really delighted with it- it's a real find!

Best Album I've bought in a Long Time
This is one of my favorite album to date. I have only found a handful of albums for which I can listen to all the way through. For me, that's saying something. It's a real enjoyable album, as well as a great deal for five dollars (US) on Amazon.com. This album is truly a joy to listen to. Light-hearted, funny and wonderfully written. The music is bubblely, and leave you feel good. I have only found a handful of albums I can listen to all the way through, and this is one of them. When I first heard 'Fireflies' during the summer as on of the Toyota Free Music Download songs, and thought how wonderful this song was. I so decided to look up the band on myspace. Listen to the upcoming album, and found them to be my like of music. After downloading the album and listen to it, I find I was not wrong. This really, really is a great album. This one, everyone should own. (from my blog on myspace) Peace, Love & Music; Roguexxx
