Beautiful cast iron saute pan
Overview: The Crock Pot Artisan 3.5 Quart Enameled Cast Iron Deep Sauté Pan in Scarlet Red is a stunning addition to any kitchen, combining beauty and functionality. Perfect for sautéing, braising, and even baking, this versatile pan is designed to elevate your cooking experience. Design: With its eye-catching scarlet red enamel finish, this sauté pan is as attractive as it is practical. The enameled surface not only looks great but is also resistant to chipping and easy to clean. The deep design allows for larger quantities of food, making it ideal for one-pot meals or family-sized dishes. Performance: This pan excels in heat retention and distribution, ensuring that your food cooks evenly without hot spots. It’s perfect for browning meats or sautéing vegetables, and it transitions seamlessly from stovetop to oven, withstanding temperatures up to [insert temperature, e.g., 500°F]. I’ve used it for everything from stir-frying to baking casseroles, and it performs beautifully in each role. Ease of Use: The sturdy, ergonomic handles provide a comfortable grip, even when the pan is full. The lid fits tightly, helping to retain moisture and flavor during cooking. Its weight gives it a sturdy feel, which can be a bit heavy when full, but the quality is well worth it. Cleaning: Cleanup is straightforward thanks to the enamel coating. Most food releases easily, and it can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher. Just be cautious not to use metal utensils, as they can scratch the enamel. Value for Money: While it comes with a higher price tag compared to standard cookware, the durability and versatility of this sauté pan justify the investment. It’s built to last and can handle a wide range of cooking tasks, making it a worthwhile addition to your kitchen arsenal.

Just What I Was Looking For
This is a great pan. Yes, it’s heavy, but it is cast iron, and should last for a very long time. Because cast iron heats evenly, you do not need to cook on high heat. Doing so, can cause the food to burn and make it very difficult to clean possibly causing it no longer to be non stick. My husband loves them, but I have to remind him medium heat will get the doneness he wants just as fast. Make sure you let the pan cool completely before washing in hot soapy water. After rinsing, I wipe it down with a couple paper towels. Then I put it in a warm oven to allow it to dry completely. Some have complained that the edge is rusting on their pan. Putting it in a warm oven will prevent any rust from forming. I also have 2 ceramic Dutch ovens as well as a smaller ceramic skillet. I am happy with all of them. I highly recommend this pan.

Best value in enameled cast iron. Recommended.
Fantastic piece of cookware. I suppose one could pay three times the amount for a fancy French brand, but I don’t know why. This thing is HEAVY and well enameled. Take it from the range top to the oven, or vice versa. Red color matches my other Crock Pot Artisan pieces. Slight negative? The factory packaging only covers the body of the pot and lid, leaving the long handle and helper handle exposed. As a result, my piece arrived with a slight scratch on the long handle. I’m not concerned as I actually use my cookware, and before long it will develop its own unique patina inherent to quality cookware. I only mention this to warn those who see cookware as a decoration about the possibilities. Otherwise, Crock Pot Artisan continues to impress with their quality and value. Highly recommended.

Probably the best budget enamel
For enameled cast iron I personally wouldn’t do the same things I would with my raw cast iron. I treat them as separate beasts. I’ve made a clafoutis in this (it stuck and it was my fault for not buttering the bottom) and it turned out mostly beautiful. I use this for anything I would braise (acidic or otherwise) in the oven that doesn’t require me to bring out my big 6.5 qt enamel. 2 chicken leg quarters fit with enough room for a sear and then about a quart of liquid without feeling like it’s going to overflow. It’s still heavy transferring from stove to oven but that doesn’t bother me. Making Alton browns chicken parm marinara in this is actually great since it cooks for such a long time I don’t worry about it burning(compared to my all clad stainless I would have to constantly stir). If you do try to just use it like a season raw cast iron pan it’ll most likely stick and leave marks on the bottom that are difficult to scrub out. Tl;dr it’s great for braised items especially if it’s acidic. Easy to clean up. Wouldn’t use it to just sear as it will leave marks but if you add water and boil for a while the marks will come out.

Versatile and a great value
I am fond of making one dish meals, and this is a terrific vessel for doing so. I have made soups, stews, sautéed meets, my Sunday bolognese, it handles every thing so well, and clean up is a nap. The surface area is great, the depth is great, you will use this multiple times a week.

Arrived Damaged!
The pan arrived with bubble wrap that looked old, as if it had been used. The chip on the handle, though very small, makes me think someone else returned it for the same reason I did. Update: I received the replacement very quickly, but again I am disappointed. I really wanted to love this pan. This time the lid is chipped, as shown in the second photo. I am sending it back and requesting a refund. Apparently, this is a prevalent issue with this item.
