Fast fast fast! And cool.

Wow. This thing is fast. I got the slower version a few months ago and was fairly happy with it but this one is in a different league. Pic is transferring 5k images from a Nikon Z9 CFx-B card to a Win11 PC. 780Mb per second average. That's at least 10 times faster than the other unit. For double the price you're getting a ten fold increase in performance. I'm impressed. The unit comes in really nice packaging and it feels very well made. It's a nice hunk of aluminium in the hand that feels weightier than expected. It feels like a quality item. Two cables with it, C to C and C to A, only used the C to C. The unit gets slightly warm to the touch when transferring large amounts of data which is to be expected, and the card stays cool. So there is decent heat sinking inside which really helps the transfer rates. The other slower unit slowed down after a few minutes because it gets hot. This one does not.And the cable detaches from the unit! This is a massively underrated feature and very important to me so I can use a variety of cables for when I'm in different places with different space restrictions.Overall this is a brilliant little unit and it looks like I'll probably buy another to live in the camera bag.

Works with iPad Pro

Having recently purchased a new camera, I was looking for a means of transferring photos quickly to my iPad Pro for sorting editing and sharing on the go. Though my camera can transfer via WiFi to the iPhone app, I wanted a quicker transfer rate to offload images to a hard drive. This compact flash type b worked perfectly, with my 2021 iPad Pro connecting direct using usb c. The transfer speeds were good and the drive is compact enough to keep in my case. Good build quality and would definitely recommend for photographers on the go

Good value CFE reader

Good quality fast compact and reasonably priced CFE type B reader. There are faster readers out there but they are generally much more expensive and this is fast enough for me. I have used Sabrent devices for a while and they have always been good value, well made, well designed and reliable.

Tight fit. Damaged on arrival

This is a tight squeeze for a cfexpress card and the click-in click-out mechanism doesn’t work due to the damage in the opening. One side is bent and forcing pressure on the card.

Built for professionals!

As a professional cinematographer I need equipment that just works. I have used this product for a 3 week project and it has been working perfectly. Its read/write speeds are as advertised. I would easily recommend it to other working professionals without hesitation.

Stop working when writing 2 to 5GB of a 10GB file

It stops working when writing large file reaching size of 2 to 5 GB of a 10GB file. The speed slow down to 1/10 after righting about 1GB.

Not even enough time to get hot

I’m a photographer and I used to have serious problem with slow transfer speed. It was mostly due to my external 8TB hard that I recently discovered was only transferring data at 50MB/s. It was taking over an hour to transfer around 80GB-100GB of data into my Lightroom catalog. I suffered for about a year before I realized what the problem was.Ever since I figured out it was the multiple hard drives daisy chained to one USB port on my M1 MacBook Pro, I have been on an absolute tear…buying up all the Thunderbolt 3 devices I could get my hands on.I first bought the Dual NVME Sabrent enclosure https://amzn.to/46rgQgu and placed Two 4TB Lexar 790 sticks inside. https://amzn.to/3MWZZuX I setup that external enclosure in a RAID 0 configuration for read/write speeds up to 2450/2200 MBs. This gave me 8TB to move my catalog to and significantly improved my import speeds from an hour down to well under 10 minutes. That was good, but I was addicted to the speed and decided to add this Sabrent Thunderbolt 3 reader to see if it made a difference. WOW! Now I can import about 100GB around 2 minutes. It’s a HUGE change from what I was used too. The data now transfers so quickly that it doesn’t give the cf-express type b card enough time to get extremely hot. I’m blown away!I’m not sure what the other people are complaining about with regards to slow transfer speeds and this card reader, but I will say that I’ve learned your transfer speeds can only be as fast as the weakest link. You must be using a high speed card going to a high speed drive to get the fastest speeds. You also MUST use a CERTIFIED Thunderbolt 3 cable (the one in the box) plugged into a Thunderbolt port on your computer. It can be confusing if you have several USB-C cables laying around since USB-C looks identical to 3 Thunderbolt 3 cable except for the 3 and lightning bolt printed on the end of the Thunderbolt cable.I did test this reader with a regular usb-c cord and got r/w numbers in the 700/600 range. That’s good but it’s not what you are paying for. Also, even I might be able to squeeze out a little more speed by plugging my thunderbolt cable directly into my laptop instead of going through a thunderbolt hub. But all my ports are accounted for and I’m too thoroughly satisfied with my transfer rates to make a change. Now…if I could only figure out how to make my Lightroom exports go just as fast, I’d be on to something. It seems like they have slowed down but it could be an exaggeration in my mind since the imports are so fast.

Works flawlessly!

After purchasing a different brand CFExpress card reader on Amazon I was hesitant to purchase yet another. Unlike the first product purchased, this reader is super sturdy and does not overheat. Durable with premium feel, fast and reliable. Rubber grips allow it to sit without sliding on a surface and it's a perfect size to fit in a camera bag. Using it with multiple brands of CFExpress cards with no issues. Great performance as advertised. It's an awesome card reader that I would highly recommend!
