Just plug in and you have POE, simple and easy
Personal Experience: I was recently setting up an NVR with multiple IP cameras that use POE and I did not want to route 5 Ethernet lines to the NVR which was almost 3 stories away (60 feet). This powered switch let me simply route 1 Ethernet line from the basement to the ceiling of the garage I was in; then route 5 much shorter Ethernet lines from the switch to the cameras. The din rail mounting is something that I really appreciate because I can easily remove the switch if I need, without having to remove screws, but the rail is sturdy enough that the switch is secured once installed. Everything worked perfectly the first time and honestly the switch really is as easy as "plug and play" I did not have to do anything special to get it to work properly. In the future if/when I have situations where an NVR is to far away from a camera or it makes sense to have multiple shorter runs to provide POE I will go with this switch. Recommend: Yes Pros: Easy to install on DIN rail Worked the first time Has dedicated port for data and 8 for POE+data (9 total Ethernet ports) Compact design compared to other switches Cons: Didn't have any the way that I used it Install suggestion: I use DIN rails for data acquisition on other things but I found that the POE switch with its DIN rail comparability was really easy to use and came in a compact design. If you don't know much about DIN rails I would suggest do some research and try putting the switch on the rail and taking it off before you mount everything in its' final location. DIN rails are pretty nice and versatile once you start using them.

Excellent value switch with stable POE output.
I purchased this switch to run a home surveillance system, after an existing controller died. The goal was use standalone capable cameras, with a single port, multi-channel controller. This switch turned out to be an incredible value. I did not expect the construction quality to be so high. It has a heft that was surprising, indicating that a lot of copper is used for the power supply, and the power output is stable. I used all 8 ports to run POE cameras, and they work great. The ports might only be 100 MB, but my cameras had not problem negotiating the connection, and everything works great. It is truly surprising to have such a high quality build, with a fiber link port at this price point. I am extremely happy with the switch, and am already recommending it to my colleagues for home LAN use.

Major distance for remote cameras using fiber.
I was able to connect 6 cameras to my Lorex NVR, located almost 1500 feet away using Multimode fiber via a LC transceiver in the SFP uplink slot. I used the RJ-45 Gigabit jack to connect a spare router, so Iβve got WiFi there too. Very nice device.

Easy setup, 10 Port has a separate power supply - consider for mounting
I have the 5 port and 10 port version of this switch and they are used primarily for PoE IP cameras. It is ready to go out of the box and has worked flawlessly for my setup. The 10 Port switch is surprisingly small and light but it has a separate power supply that you will have to manage in addition to mounting the switch. The power supply is similar in size to a laptop charger. I had no trouble with gigabit transfer speeds and have no issues with PoE for my cameras. For the price this has been outstanding and it provides the infrastructure I need to isolate my cameras from the rest of my network. Recommended.

Reliable and Cost Effective
I have this outdoors in a water-tight enclosure powering five 8MP/4k PoE cameras running at 8Mbps each, recording continuously, with a gigabit uplink to my core switch where the NVR connects. Ambient temperature has been as low as the low 20s. It has been rock solid - not a single cut out in over a year. The size is great to fit into a relatively small enclosure, and provides all the performance and stability I need, and a great price point. Sure I'd love VLAN support, but for the price point, this can't be beat. Be warned that the power brick is relatively large.

Does The Job !
I am now using two of these mounted on a rack underneath my router. I am running 6 Sunba POE cameras which require 25-30 watts for each camera with three cameras on each of these switches that have 96 watt capacity for each. Although these switches have 8 POE ports I noticed a difference in camera performance when reducing availbe power by adding more than three cameras to each switch. It is difficult to find a switch that produces enough POE power that is not too large both in size and expense. These are comparatively small and compact, well built and my cameras seem to love the smooth, steady power. Very happy with how these perform.

Lasted about 9 months
Had a power outage while away on vacation. UPS kicked in and kept everything on but eventually the battery died. With that power outage went a port on this PoE switch, causing one of my cameras to lose video almost the entire time I was gone. My last BVTech switch died after about 3 years, so I don't think I'll purchase another BVTech product to replace this one. Too bad because they seem to be nice devices and priced well.

Great little PoE switch. Has lots of power and the price point is excellent. I use it in an industrial environment and so far it works as well and has the longevity of other brands that cost three or four times as much,

I purchased these for a huge fiber optic security camera installation, they work above and beyond my expectations. Will be utilizing these on all of my industrial installations from now on!
