Great Tea, well presented
I buy different boxes of these every year as a gift as they are well presented. The box itself is sturdy and well made, the small caddy's inside are perfect, you can see the tea through them, and keeps the tea fresher, also when you've drank it all, you have some little storage pots for your man drawer/spices/Scentwork. Great variety, with some unusual flavours, brews well, tastes great (as long as you like that particular flavour), even the ones I've been a little unsure of have been ok. Definitely good value for money.

Fun and satisfying present
The Masala Chai sampler really is an excellent selection. It was a well-received present, and I’ve had the chance to sample many of them myself. It looks lovely, and the teas are well packaged in individual pouches. While the exact amount you receive in each varies, 10-12g is the most common amount — and at the strength we like it (Yorkshire tea drinkers), that makes 3 average sized mugs of chai at the recommended 1 part milk 2 parts water. There are very discernible differences between the different blends, and it’s been fun to explore them. Opening a new pouch and taking a deep sniff of the contents is fun! Definitely a step up from even the more premium supermarket-available teabag chais, which generally disappoint. Though it’s clearly a much more involved preparation, that’s part of the joy. Have identified a couple of favourites that I will probably invest in packets of in the future, but the variety of flavours to try has been a particularly good experience.

Vahdam Assorted Green Tea Sampler - nice quality although mild flavours
I do like green tea and especially a flavoured variety. The teas generally available in tea bags are not up to my taste although I do buy them because there is no local alternative. I was therefore interested in trying this sampler back as a good way of testing different flavours of teas before settling on a couple to buy a full supply of. The packaging is very attractive and the 10 packets of different teas are fully labelled with pictures and are tightly sealed. You need to cut off the top before you can open the packs (and don't forget to reseal them). I put the teas in order of how I wanted to taste them, even bought a new small glass mug just for these teas, and have had one different cup each day. The quality of the teas is great. You need a full teaspoonful for a cup, about 1 1/2 for a small mug and easily 2 tea spoonfulls for a mug. You will also need to buy a "strainer" that you put the tea leaves in and then immerse that in your cup/mug. I have a largish strainer and I was surprised how much the tea leaves expanded - some of them totally filled the strainer! To make, use freshly boiled water and allow to "brew" for a good 3-4 minutes. I found the brewing time needed to be 4-5 minutes in the small mug I bought. The colour of the teas was good, none were too dark, and the aroma was acceptable but quite mild. The taste test was the most important - obviously allowing the beverage to cool somewhat because these teas are made without milk and stay very hot for a good few minutes after brewing. Don't try drinking straight away, there would be a danger of scalding your mouth! Although for experienced green tea drinkers, they will know it is wise to wait. Every tea looked different, some having a mixture of small leaves, others with very long leaves, one (green Chai) is more of a powder so make sure your strainer has a very fine mesh. The seller gives an approximate number of cups you can make per packet but, obviously, that will depend on how much tea you use per cup. Aroma - there was a slightly different aroma with each packet. However, I did find that all the teas apart from the one "sweet" version tasted very similar. I don't take sugar and so the sweet version really did taste extra sweet to me, but still pleasant. I will say that I was a little disappointed there was not the variety of flavours on the tongue that I'd hoped for and none of the teas had a strong taste to them, even allowing for a longer brewing time. Aside from that one sweet tea, they were all quite mild tasting, refreshing but not as full of flavour as I would have liked. That being said, I did enjoy each of them and will continue to use the packets until they are all gone. Jasmine green tea is my favourite but is rarely seen other than in an extra mild version made by a well-known tea manufacturer, so it was a shame there was no jasmine in this collection. As a sampler, I didn't find it useful at all because I would be satisfied with buying a supply of any of these teas (other than the extra sweet one) to use for myself knowing I would get a quality cup of green tea made with quality, fresh ingredients - which is the important part. Had these been given a far stronger flavour, I would certainly have left 5 stars - but I should like to point out this review is based solely upon my own taste buds and my experience of drinking different green teas from awful tea bags. I would certainly buy from this seller again and could happily choose just one flavour to order a supply of knowing I would receive quality leaves and could brew a refreshing, albeit it mild-tasting, green tea.

Wonderful! Just lay back & feel the quality entice you!
I now know just what REAL TEA tastes like! Talk about a shock to your tastebuds! I have tried every one of the 10 samples some I liked a little more than others but I would have to say that I'd feel this is down to each persons preference. I will certainly be purchasing other varieties of tea from this company! So far it is the best that I've tasted from anywhere or any one. Reading the list of ingredients & spices that are added with such care helps you to identify the flavours of each individual tea as it is savoured. It is an incredible learning curve for each & every different spice or herb that you learn to identify as quite frankly our tastebuds are not as well developed as those in countries where these types of infusions are far more common. I have to give Vahdam Teas 10 out of 10 for spotting a niche in the market & going for it. I like the ethical information that comes with the pack & the enthusiasm that comes over very strongly! I'm intreagued to read of the young man that has broken the mold for this type of tea gathering, customer & supplier care that he seems to have imbued this company with. Try some not too exotic ones if you've always purchased your tea with a sell by date & I promis that the next cuppa of your usual tea will not entice you to go back to it! Make sure that you give Vahdam Teas a good chance before you try your usual as your taste has to develope & frankly be educated to the different types of tea out there! Absolutely love these. Have desired to chuck everything else out! Regards, Sam

The Bottom Line: Vahdam makes some incredible teas, and Darjeeling is their specialty. I thoroughly enjoyed every tea in the sampler and bought many more teas from Vahdam. This sampler is an excellent way to figure out what you'll like. I tried all 10 teas in this sampler, and here are the results of the taste test. Darjeeling Spring - Opening the bag, the smell is incredible. The tea is very light, strong delicate spicy flavors, very aromatic. Slightly herbal like a green/white tea. Has a slight spice flavor - very warming. Light body with delicious delicate flavors. Excellent. Darjeeling Daily Summer - The tea leaves smell incredible fresh out of the bag. Tea is medium, some roast flavors, very aromatic with herbal aromas. A very interesting medium roast with light muscatel spice. Very slight herbal oolong flavors. Darker and stronger than the Darjeeling Spring. Darjeeling Muscatel Imperial - I slightly overstepped this and it is overly bitter. Has a great darjeeling flavor, similar to previous ones. The tea leaves smelled great with a sweet wine grape aroma. Second brew was much better with some light muscatel grape flavors. Very smooth. Good flavors, and everything goes together well. Darker and stronger than the others, the closest to a breakfast tea. Steep this one for less time because it was the only one that got bitter. Darjeeling Spring Gold - Greenish leaves, quite light color tea, nearly green tea color. Has a very nice aroma of medium herbal floral notes. Taste has some rose buds, delicate flowers, slight sweetness. A very good light tea. Second infusion is similarly light and delicate, with slight papery bitterness of Darjeeling. Better than Darjeeling spring, but lighter and more floral. Castleton Premium Spring Darjeeling - Best yet. Lots of great flavors, nothing off-putting. Family members liked it a lot and raves about it. Good medium weight easy drinker. Second and third infusions are solidly pleasant. I picked up a full bag. My favorite spring Darjeeling of the sampler. Okayti Premium Spring Darjeeling - Solid, good flavors, very mellow. Medium color and weight. Has a slight tongue coating property. Less herbal/floral than other versions, more earthy instead. Overly mellow - needs more flavors to be a stand out. Delicious, but the others are even better. Giddhapur Spring Darjeeling - The lightest, most green tea-like so far, somewhere between oolong and green tea. Has some nice floral aromas. Has that distinct vegetal green tea flavor, but much more subdued than a typical green tea. Nice darjeeling flavors blended in. It really is quite pleasant - an excellent light, delicate tea. High Mountain Darjeeling Oolong - Wow this one packs a punch of exotic aromas and flavors. Darker and more flavorful than the spring Darjeelings without the green half-baked flavors that sometimes come with Oolong. The grape muscatel is present with a supporting cast of floral and fruit flavors. Has a uniquely smooth flavor that comes from the oolong process. Very good. Masala Chai - I generally don’t like chai teas, but this is easily the best I’ve had. The spices are distinct, well blended, and complement the tea flavors. I really enjoyed it. An excellent Christmas tea. Pearl White - Very light, almost clear. Extremely delicate aroma and flavor that is very pleasant. I drank the entire pot without realizing it. Very delicious.
