Aquatic Life RO Buddie 75 GPD 3-Stage Hydroponic Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System, RO Filtration Unit

Bought this filter system to make rinse water for washing cars. I wasn’t getting the advertised flow rate out of this RO system, so I did some testing to narrow it down—pressure was good, prefilters were fine, but the flow after the membrane was way lower than it should’ve been. Looked like the RO membrane itself was the culprit. I emailed the company directly and two days later they had a new membrane on my doorstep. Swapped it in and now it’s performing even better than I was expecting. Water in my area is 227 TDS going into this thing and only 7ppm TDS coming out. I got the 75GPD filter but I'm getting closer to 100 with my system (@ 70psi water pressure from my garden hose). Things like this can happen, but their customer service was quick, professional, and made it right without any runaround.

I bought the 75 GPD kit to make water for my huge humidifier, hoping to reduce or eliminate white dust!First, Aquatic Life customer support is excellent. I had a tech question, called them (number on their website) and Dave called back within 2 hours, very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful. Second this system works really well. Very clear instructions and easy installation too. I ended up installing the the float valve right in the humidifier. (Did I mention, it's huge, 5 gallon reservoir.) It works great. One thing, that Dave alerted me to, is the solenoid can be a little noisy with the float valve. This might disturb sleep overnight. Very simple solution is to shut off the water supply at night. The 1/4" water lines are very easy to work with and it was a simple matter to install a shutoff. The kit includes adapters for a faucet, but I used a saddle valve directly on 1/2" copper pipe.

My water is in the "liquid rock" range - so much so that my shrimp were calcifying and failing to molt. In fact, it technically voids the warranty of the filters (the amount of minerals, and the inevitable scaling will shorten their lifespans). I called on the phone once I saw the acceptable water parameters in the manual and they told me to NOT buy the DI unit (as it would just get destroyed), but that the RO would still work, just not as many gallons as advertised (I have a TDS pen to test each batch, and that will let me know when to change the filter).This only brings the TDS down to about 17 (all GH, no KH) - but that's a lot better than 400+ (and I imagine even higher as the mountain runoff begins to melt over the next few months). I can take this, mix it in with tap water or Salty Shrimp gH/kH+, and have a cheaper option than cutting with distilled.My setup is a 27-gallon tote with a hole drilled for the floater valve, which stays outside. The unit is connect with a quick connect faucet adapter from TSC, and mounted in a 10 gallon trash can that I bring inside at night (so it doesn't freeze in the winter). I have a 5 gallon water cube from WM that I dunk in the tote to fetch the water, and a 1 gallon milk jug with the top cut out to help top off, or fill other containers.So far it's working for me. :)

Easy to assemble, water comes out pure (have testers for my shrimp tank) its really easy to assemble but it’s slow, yes, says that on the description. It does create a lot of waste water, but collect that for the other fish tanks - the water in Atlanta is quite soft. Good value for the money.
