Items came in good condition, not any pre-scratched from shipping. Worked great for a table game for butterfly themed birthday, even the adults played with them.

I used them for my daughter's birthday bags.

The kids loved these! I demonstrated how to do the first one, then let them pick their favorite designs, and off they went. Even mom and grandma did one.The 4 year old twins scribbled theirs for a few minutes but they did lose interest pretty quick. The 6 year old really got into it and quietly worked on hers for about a half hour straight. Her design was actually quite amazing – even if I'm a little biased – and I was sure to get a close up pic for this review.Many of the butterflies had a few small bits of the card stock that still needed to be popped out, mostly around the antennas, but the kids actually enjoyed doing that as much as scratching the cards so it didn't matter much.Getting everyone setup took about 30 seconds. Since there are 12 designs (with 6 pieces of each design) everyone got the shapes they wanted. Cleanup was just a matter of wiping the table once over with a dry paper towel.The butterfly cards are shipped loose in a cardboard box that is a bit bigger than (but flat like) a compact disc case and the scratch sticks are inside a plastic bag in that same box. So a few of the cards had tiny imperfections where the rainbow underneath was already revealed. That said, kids are creative and we're looking at those tiny defects as a fun "incorporate it into your design" challenge for those few cards.All in all, I'd say this was a good purchase. If you want to keep a handful of kids occupied for a half hour or so without creating a big mess and without having to do a lot of work, pick up a pack of these butterfly scratch cards and just have them on hand for whenever.Caution: there's no age recommendation listed on this product but there probably should be. The scratch sticks are very rigid and the tips are sharper than you realize. You may want to dull their tips on a strip of sandpaper ahead of time. And you'll definitely want to provide supervision for smaller kids.

You may be wondering why these are inexpensive for so many. They are not packaged. They came free floating in a flimsy, crushed corner box. Scratch cards rub off when they touch things, so there’s lots of little nicks in paint. Bummer. Buyer beware if you want a pristine product.
