Swan 4 Slice Retro Toaster (Blue)

This is a good toaster. I’m writing this review because I spent two hours trying to buy a toaster the other day. I would pick one I liked the look of, and then I would read the reviews. And they were all about the horrible toast, that they didn’t fit Toastie, they were all awful. I got so tired of it, that I picked a brand I understood, chose a model and bought it. I picked this one because my husband likes green. It makes lovely toast. It’s not perfect, but for the same reasons that no toaster is perfect. The slots aren’t big enough, but that is a thing. The day manufacturers make toasters that can toast a whole slice of bread in one go, there will be dancing in the streets. We can’t read the numbers on the dials without a torch and a magnifying glass, but that is also a thing. We understand that we have to endure what we cannot change. It’s a good toaster. It looks nice, there’s a choice of colours, it was a good price, and it came the next day. A toaster is always an emergency purchase for me, and therefore not fun. But all day long it’s a toaster, it does its job. And it makes very good toast (but you have to flip the bread).

Good that you can use the slots on either the Left or Right side of the toaster for just two slices, so the heating elements get even wear. Not as powerful as our old toaster but otherwise great.

Has abit of a funny smell fist couple of uses, toast very quickly i burnt mine a couple of times due to the heat level being different from my previous toaster, looks amazing loads of settings. What i will say is all of the colors from the same set varies for example if you buy the airfryer in the same green and expect it to match dont hold your breath! Fits average size bread slices.

This is our second one. Only replaced the last one as I broke the handles being ham fisted and couldn’t find replacements. Looks stunning and matched out the retro swan items. Very durable and feels good quality. It toast well.

This toaster is quality and I am pleased with it. Makes very nice crispy toast. The pop up is very powerful as they fly out of the toaster sometimes! Has some good features and pleased with it

Not impressed. This toaster looks good, but the settings aren’t right, not for me anyway. As one who likes my toast really well done, I am disappointed that even on the highest (6) setting, the toast comes out like it’s been set to 3, see picture. Any longer and the toast goes darker but rock hard ☹️

Did the research. A lot. No toaster fits Warburtons toasty bread, nor most standard-sized UK bread = I can't buy a toaster to toast bread unless it is small bread. 5* reviews are based on how a toaster looks, so no point in reading them. Not one single toaster got good marks for toasting both sides evenly. You may as well use your toaster to create a time travel device etc., coz they don't do toast. Which one did I buy? I bought this Swan Retro, as it takes up less space than the Swan Nordic, is a tad cheaper and comes in funky orange, -which no one had, so I got black. I wanted one that toasted the bread, not bake it to a dry crisp, and this does a nice job. It's also a brand whose toaster, 35 years ago, made perfect toast. It was also the first toaster I thought about buying before doing all the damned research. As you can see from the pics, it didn't toast evenly per side (looked better irl than the pics show). I had one on setting 2, the other side on 3 and popped them down a second time. I think 4 will be right, but haven't tried it yet. My main gripe is that the slots are even smaller than I thought. I used a small loaf of pre-sliced tiger bread, and although a thicker slice would be fine, I had to put these in at an angle. But it worked. I won't be able to put in normal-sized bread, but that's the same with all toasters. Hopefully, this one will last a good few years. It comes with a 2-year warranty.
