These types of harnesses are therefore most commonly used during city walks or when working with service dogs. As a result of improper leash use, sizing, or harness adjustment, some dogs can still wriggle out of the harness. If the leash is inadvertently pulled in the opposite direction to how the harness was put on, the harness might be pulled off the dog. This can happen if the harness is adjusted too loosely, the dog starts moving backwards trying to run away. the dog lags behind and is being pulled by the leashATTENTION:Dog harnesses are designed to guide the dog in a gentle, neck-sparing way on the leash, to hold the dog, and to make it possible for the owner to hold it back in case of an emergency. A dog harness is not a coercive tool! When facing the dog, do not pull the leash towards you and never pull the dog after you on a leash because it will hurt them. Improper leash treatment can cause the dog to try to escape. The owner would be responsible for the dog pulling loose from the harness should this happen. How to safely walk your dog in a harnessIf the dog is prone to panic or feels insecure near traffic, it is recommended to use the handle on the top of the harness to help the dog.It is also a good idea to use the collar and dog harness together with a double carabiner leash while walking. In this way, the dog can be led safely with one hand and the collar does not overload the dog’s neck if it needs to be held back suddenly. The Y-belt or pressure distribution pad, hich can be retrofitted to the harness, also allows the harness to rest securely and comfortably. How to adjust the dog harnessProper sizing and adjustment is essential for any type of harness. Before using the harness for the first time, it is very important to read the instructions carefully and to follow them. In the case of chest harnesses, adjust the girth strap of the harness so that only your palms can be slid between the inner lining of the harness and the back of the dog. The chest strap should allow four fingers to fit in between the dog’s front leg and the girth strap. Harnesses that are set too loose can be dangerous because the dog can get out of them, but overly tightening harnesses should also be avoided. How to correctly walk your dog on a leashWhen walking, the leash should always be loose, and only held tightly when there is a good reason, for example if you are forced to stop the dog suddenly due to a traffic situation. If the dog is scared, panics, or is just unwilling to move on, under no circumstances should you try to go any further and pull. If possible, keep the leash loose, but keep it short and try to get hold of the harness handle by getting behind the dog.Getting certain dogs used to a harness can be difficult in some rare cases. In cases like these we recommend seeking help from a professional dog handler who works with positive reinforcement. Julius-K9 16IDC P3 review Siberian Husky
Having tried various other products we decided to try out the Julius K9 Size 3 on our Husky.Pro's1. Great value product which is well made and all stitching is of high quality2. Colour fast fabric doesn't run of fade to much over several washes and day trips in the rain3. Great idea have a Luminous Label tag velcroed to each side of the harness4. Also, spec of the harness doesn't really say that it also comes with an elasticated torch holder for a'Maglite' type torch, we go out a lot at night and also in the dark nights of winter this is a god send to see where the pooch has run off to as well as illuminating to the fron or rear of the dog. Great on street walks at night so vehicles can see you5. The main clip, which is also very robust which it has to be on our dog, has a seperate secure velcro strap which covers the main clip up to help the clip coming open or having the dog snatched..great idea6. Lead steel loop is excellent quailty and quite heavy duty but would be of no use if the flap holding it was inferior which it most definately is not7. Once fitted the harnes doesn't move much and has a very good grab handle on the top should you need it.8. The chest belt is very secure and holds the dog very well if she snatches away9. Overall product is one of the best we have triedCons1. Can be expensive2. requires a little use to break the harness in at first but after several walks in the rain etc it breaks well

Julius k9 power harness
On the whole I'm happy with this product, the large1 fit my border collie well, he is about 27kg. The only part I wasn't pleased with is the part that goes around the chest, it takes a few times to achieve the correct size for your dog and every time you pull the velcro apart it weakens, I've had to put a couple of loops of tape on it to stop it from coming apart, also fur sticks to the exposed velcro area so you have to remove it constantly, it's not exactly a bad design but more of an oversight, anyway I've solved the problem by purchasing a padded neoprene that covers this chest area, this covers the exposed velcro, stopsfur from sticking, stops velcro separating and padding where there isn't any, now it's a five star harness! Pics of mods to chest area to follow as padded neoprene not arrived yet.

It is NOT inescapable
I think this suits owners more than their dogs. I cannot say it was perfect because my little pug got out of it quite easily and it was fastened properly- not skin tight, but quite snugly. I have 4 different harnesses for her and she has escaped quickly and efficiently out of all of them at the speed of light- by that, I mean when I have stood up after fastening her into them, she is free and I have honestly NEVER seen the manoeuvre

Rock solid harness
Not sure my energetic lab would agree, but this harness does the business. Seemed a bit uncomfortable for her at first, but I think we have both got used to it, and there is no sing of chafing. Very secure if she pulls, and she hasn't (yet) managed to reverse out of it, which I've had before. One comment; the D ring is solid enough to hang a small car on, and our snap on clip leads wouldn't fit; if you have a heftier lead with a trigger hook / belt clip style hook, that should be ok. Only applies to this size (1) - smaller sizes probably won't have this issue.

Best harness by far
Perfect Size “O” for our Cockerpoo. Fits very nicely and the handle on the top means we can pick our dog up quickly when needed. Can be worn in the car and with optional seatbelt clip for safety. Very well made and sides and chest strap are luminous.
