Great gift for film-at-home lovers, but cook them in oil and you'll lose the different tastes
If you know someone who loves their films, and watches loads at home, this is a great gift for them. Just be-sure they own (or buy them) a popcorn-maker that uses hot-air only to make them pop. Then you will taste the, albeit sometimes subtle, different flavours of each of the kernel varieties. Pop them in a pan using hot oil (or butter) though and they'll all come-out tasting mostly the same. (Microwave popping should also be fine, assuming you use little-to-no oil.) Overall it's great as a gift, and does have a premium-look, but I'd certainly not recommend it as a regular-thing as the taste-difference between some of the varieties is so-subtle that 720g for around ยฃ13-15 isn't worth it. The standard (cinema) variety kernels are usually around ยฃ4 for 1kg in a typical supermarket, remember. In-short: as-long-as you're not expecting the different kernel-varieties to offer a massive-difference each in flavour (i.e. these are not a popcorn-equivalent of a chocolate selection-box!), and have a air-based popcorn-machine (or would use a microwave), they're a nice occasional treat, or they are fine to present as a gift. But if you want popcorn regularly, as a healthy, alternative snack, and were hoping the different varieties here would mean not having to add flavourings afterwards, you may be disappointed in the sometimes subtle differences.

You need to actually know how to cook popcorn.
I see a lot of reviews around "tasteless popcorn". If you are used to microwave popcon bags and cook these dry on a pan, then add 0 salt, they will be indeed, tasteless. Microwavable popcorn come with a bunch of oil and a ton of salt. To cook these: - Add 1-2 teaspoons of ghee into a deep pan with a lid (any high heat oil will do but ghee tastes amazing) - Drop 3 or 4 kernels as you heat up the pan, this is so you know "when is the pan hot enough". Once those 3 pop, you are good to go. - Add the popcon, shake the pan as they cook - Once they stop popping, you are done! Put on a bowl, add some fine salt or any other flavours you want in there, shake and you are good to go. For better results, pass your salt through a grinder, you want it to be like caster sugar texture, and feel free to add other flavours! I do mine mostly with salt, but have tried garlic butter and parmesan, chives, black pepper, etc... As for the product, it was great to taste different types of popcorn, and find the one I like the most for future reference, a great gift too!

No flavour whatsoever.
I bought these for movie night in our home cinema and we prepared them last night in an airdry popcorn maker. We tried two different types, including a dark coloured variety of kernel which I expected to produce some colour on the popcorn. In fact both resulted in completely white popcorn which was devoid of flavour, it was like eating cardboard. We threw away most of what we made but we might use the rest up with our own flavourings.

Well presented and worth the cost.
Nice product, especially as a gift as it is presented so nicely where worth the extra money just for that alone. The flavours were rather different to your normal popcorn which makes it that little bit more special.

Solid Gift
Good. Very different. Do a bit of research on making them sweet/salty/buttery, if you get them right they are brilliant
