Alpha and Omega
I like animated films. I grew up with all the Disney animated movies. Like Snow White Pinocchio,Peter Pan,etc. Now other companies are producing animated films, besides Disney. Dreamworks,Pixar,Liongate, etc. What is interesting is that they are now producing computer animated films. It is a relatively new concept of animation. I missed seeing Alpha and Omega at the theatre, when it came out in 2010. Having seen a commercial of the movie being for sale on DVD,last year,I decided to buy a copy out of curiousity. I like the storyline about a pack of wolves living day by day in Jasper national park, and the loving relationship that grows between a male wolf named Humphrey and a female wolf named Kate. It sort of a "Romeo and Juliet"type story using wolves instead of Humans. Kate is an Alpha type wolf and Humphrey is an Omega type wolf. The story revolves around the concept that Alpha & Omega wolves of the same pack cannot mate for life. The story goes on to prove that this concept is old an outdated, and corrects itself by the end of the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the film.

Cute & Entertaining
I won't synopsize the movie because that's been done, but it is entertaining for kids. The animation is good and so is the voice acting so that adults can watch too, but the film has captivated my son. And he's surprisingly picky about what he likes to watch. At four years old, he especially likes the positive and somewhat corny family and friends interactions. I am pretty happy about that as I don't have to explain a lot of serious emotions like real loss and even death (ie Lion King). There's a lot of action to keep his interest and the deeper themes about social and class status and even race are not lost on the adult audience.

Not a masterpiece, but still worth multiple viewings.
I heard about this film when it came out, and as a wolf lover, it seemed like it was made for me. Despite this, it took me 6 years before I finally watched it.There are a few things to keep in mind while viewing. The biggest complaint most people have is the poor quality of animation. While it's not as detailed as anything Pixar has made, it still has a charm to it. Apparently, this film was animated by a studio in Mumbai, which gives a bit of a hint as to why the animation is a little rough around the edges. The story may be predictable, but the good voice acting and dynamic characters make it more worth your time. There are some pretty big names stars in here, most notably Dennis Hopper. Hopper unfortunately passed away before the films release, making it his last. The humor is kind of hit or miss for me, mostly because of the several low-brow jokes spread throughout, yet the amount in this still doesn't hold a candle to films like Ice Age (which was unwatchable.). Speaking of Blue Sky Productions, this film sort of reminded me of their movie Rio, which had a similar story. After viewing both, I'd say Alpha & Omega is better, plus it came first. This film also seems reminiscent of The Lion King in a way, (the idea of a pack oriented animal learning their responsibilty.).I also must address how many people complain that this movie is "inappropriate for children". There are some violence themed sentences that are semi shocking, but I was a little more surprised with the amount of sexual humor. Chances are, younger children don't know what any of it means, so I wouldn't worry about it. The biggest compliment I can give this movie is how much of a cuteness overload it is. Whether or not you like the story, I guarantee people of any age or taste in film will find the character design irresistibly adorable. This film is not for critics, but more for people who are able to cherish their childhood. As I write this review, I am 19, and I can see myself in later years continuing to enjoy this movie.

One of her favs!
My daughter was so upset when this movie left Netflix. The Easter bunny didn't want her to miss it any longer & surprised her with it in her basket. She loves it & can quote it forward & backward. I must admit, it is a very cute movie. Much better than I thought it was going to be. Surprised it didn't do better in the theaters.
