Dewalt Chainsaw Pruning CRDLS 20V 8IN DCCS623B

I love this little chainsaw. I've been looking at them at my local big box and small hardware stored for about a year but the prices were beyond my reach. I don't have large amount of land, but what I do have is about a third wooded, mostly with HUGE oak trees. I have an 18" Oregon chainsaw so that if and when one of those falls it handles it easily. It is, however, big and heavy. Tiny acorns sprout into new oak trees and it's a yearly battle trying to keep up with them, made even more of a pain by the size and weight of the big chainsaw or the tediousness of a hand pruning saw. I tried a reciprocating saw with a good pruning blade and it worked but was still too slow, I already have several DeWalt 20c batteries (original and after-market) so getting the bare tool was a no-brainer. It's perfect for my needs - it blasts through anything up to 7" in diameter and beyond that I'd use the big saw anyway. This one is less than half the weight of the big saw, even with a 6Ah battery, which balances it perfectly. Also, I can't say enough about the seller Toolup of Las Vegas, NV. They shipped my saw, brand-new in the box, the same day I ordered it and it arrived on the specified day, at a great price. Here's a couple of tips. Spend some extra and get the DeWalt biodegradable bar and chain oil. It's what they recommend, will help prevent seal damage and subsequent leakage and, since you should dump any remainder after each use, there are no disposal issues. Next, while the Dewalt chain that comes with the saw is fine, get an Oregon 8" R34. It's a little more aggressive and will make all cutting go a tad faster. Finally, consider getting one or more 16 oz. squeeze bottles for the oil, the kind they use at some restaurants and many people use for cookouts. They allow for precise, no-mess oil-filling. I got two, because this saw and the big one take different types of oil, and it works like a charm.

I bought this saw to handle small to medium sized trees and branches on a piece of property I bought up in the mountains. I could not have had a better tool on me to get the job done. The battery life is fantastic lasting me through an entire weekend of cutting underbrush, branches, and small trees on a single battery/charge. This saw is worth every penny and is a workhorse. I've had no issues with the saw and have used it for many weekends already and I have yet to have to sharpen it. The blade that comes stock is highly durable and has remained sharp with proper use. This saw adds the perfect combination of comfortability in your hands with good length and reach. I have yet to find a situation that it has had issue with. Definitely a must have for property owners who need a tool much lighter than a chainsaw that can last all day for all of that pesky underbrush and small trees that a chainsaw is just simply not practical for.

I received a cheap (non-Dewalt) mini chainsaw for Christmas, and it broke after a few minutes of use. I took it apart to try and fix it, and it was obviously cheaply made. I made the mistake of buying another cheap one that had a good rating, but it lasted all of a few weeks and I frequently had to stop during use and put the chain back on or readjust other parts. This Dewalt saw cost about 3 times more than the others, but it's worth it and obviously much better made. I've used it extensively with no problems and my wife easily uses it. Saws of this size fill a gap nicely. My full-sized chainsaw it often too big or too clumsy for little jobs around the yard and this one is perfect. You'll probably want an extra battery so you don't have to stop in the middle of larger jobs to recharge.

I tried out the pruning saw today. It cut through 3.5 inch diameter oak logs in multiple cuts with ease, and it did a good job at clearing out brush during my leaf clearing task. This saw will be excellent for cutting small logs that are too long for the wood stove. The safety switch is the only thing that annoys me about it. I am a Stihl gas chainsaw user. Also, I purchased the DeWalt biodegradable bar and chain oil to use with it. A bag was purchased to store the saw, oil, and a spare chain. To avoid oil from leaking inside the bag, a HORUSDY 500CC oil/fluid extractor and fill syringe was purchased to empty the oil tank. Although not a perfect operation, the syringe did a decent job of extracting the oil from the pruning saw and filling the fluid back into the oil bottle, with some leakage from the hose. Lastly, I like how the wrench is stored inside the scabbard. 5-09-2026 This saw is so useful for clearing long fallen branches left behind from a severe storm.

It’s worked perfectly! Easy to use and cuts fairly tough wooden branches.

Real pleased with this little guy for bush sized trimming and some backyard tree limbs up to 5 or 6 inches. Very light and easily handled with one hand. It worked great with my existing Dewalt 20V batteries. No bar chain oil leakage and seemed to have plenty of power for the small yard jobs. In the end I returned and replaced it with the DeWalt 12 inch battery chain saw to handle those slightly larger 8-9 inch tree limbs that are prevalent on my property. It has the same high quality attributes as this model.

I’m not sure how I managed before I had this. I have a lot of trees and something is always needing to be pruned or cut up after it falls on the ground. I had a big branch come down after the last wind storm, so I ordered this. Works fantastic and the battery lasts a long time. It made much quicker work of the limb than anything else that I have. Highly recommend.

I've been trimming smaller trees large branches, and even large landscape timber using my Sawzall with a large tooth blade. Those batteries needed replaced because of being real old. It also took a long time to complete the needed cut. Today's replacement cost for two replacement batteries is close enough to the price of this saw that I just bought this saw instead. I'm so glad I did! Not only because of the Dewalt quality of their tools, it is much lighter and quieter than my Sawzall. It cuts just as quick as a full size chain saw. Another advantage this saw has that because it's bar length, you can cut into more places a full size bar will not fit. I purchased the larger bar so I will have no trouble cutting things in the future.

This is a great little saw. It works on decent size branches when pruning trees. I very solid piece of equipment.

Went out trail clearing with the ATV club the other day and everybody there, including me, were blown away by how much I got cut with this lite, little saw. 4 inchers easily dispatched and a great limber for some of the real heavy stuff that the gas machines were dealing with. Paired with my Flex 20/60V battery, I cut until I was tired of cutting and still had plenty of battery left. Will be taking this saw on the ATV, always.

Big DEWALT fan. Ask my wife, the shop is filled with DEWALT tools. This one i really looked for yard work and occasional small wood to be cut. I may or may not have taken the guard off the tip. I know some comment if it stops mid cut. 99% of the time that’s to save you from getting hurt. Chain can be easily replaced. Runs well, comfortable, get the job done. I cut up some old docks we were removing for the lake clean up and it did it really well. Ended up in the lake (slip and fall in the lake on an old dock), cleaned and lubed with electrical cleaner and cuts and runs like new.
