Can you disconnect the charger portion from the actual mount itself?

No, originally I wanted to attach the charger to the mount that was already cemented onto my windshield but the charger cannot be taken off. Maybe it can but I am too scared to take it off with it being such an expensive charger. So far the mount it comes with is glued onto my windshield without any signs of it ever coming off and my phone stays nice and cool.

The suction may hold up too well. I attached it once but wanted to readjust it but found it impossible to take off. I have had it sitting there for months now and it hasn't moved a millimeter. It just sits there... menacingly.
